Wasn't there a huge test about IE vs FF in the speed area. Not sure who, but it was a popular magazine that did. Maybe PCMAG? FF won. It was a while ago however, so it wasn't FF3.
Obvious answer? How did you come to this conclusion? Unless someone has conducted a controlled test, you can not state it is obvious based on accounts in this thread. For example, are the users using the same operating system, same processor, same amount of RAM, same amount of free disk space, same plug-ins, same versions, same service packs, same settings, etc? I am currently on a HP dv9000 laptop, AMD Turion64x2, 3GB RAM, 160GB free disk space, IE 7.0.6000.16512, FF 2.0.0.12 with DOM Inspector 1.8.1.12, Firebug 1.05, FireFTP 0.97.1, FoxyTunes 2.9.5, and YSlow 0.9.2. IE loads slower than FF with only Firebug disabled. So is this still the obvious answer? I do not think so.
I beleive it's been pointed out earlier, but yes Firefox does run better, yes it has been tested. http://lifehacker.com/396048/speed-testing-the-latest-web-browsers Along with this, you can also check this Yahoo! Answers question. It's not a very credible source, but you can see that multiple people voice that Firefox is better for their own reasons. http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080730152049AAJ4qzn
I have both and i think firefox is faster. But maybe it's cause I have a lot lot of feeds to my IE homepage.
Firefox loads pages faster and it uses less cpu internet explorer is power hungry from what i think i will never use IE again,
