the privacy policy requirement for adsense

Does everybody know about this 2008 addition to google's adsense TOS:

"You must have and abide by an appropriate privacy policy that clearly discloses that third parties may be placing and reading cookies on your user’s browser, or using web beacons to collect information, in the course of ads being served on your website. Your privacy policy should also include information about user options for cookie management."

I only found out about this today, and surprisingly there are not nearly as many articles/discussion on it as I thought I would find.

    Some questions/topics for discussion:

    - Have you ever received a warning, or worse, a banning, for not having a privacy policy on your sites displaying adsense units?
    - Does your privacy policy need to be linked from every page that displays adsense units or just the home page?
    - Any recommendations for privacy policy generators?

Around June/July of this year I received a warning from Google for having adsense on a page that had a link to another website with partial nudity (I quickly complied and this issue is resolved), but they mentioned nothing about me not having a privacy policy.

    Discuss! :)

There was a lot of discussion of the issue here in the Adsense forum and elsewhere on the net, particularly dating around the time the privacy policy requirement was first introduced back in February. I'm surprised you didn't see it then, since Adsense forced you to see and agree to the new ToS the first time you logged in after the update. It's also wise to subscribe to the official Adsense blog, which highlights and clarifies important changes in the policy.

Search the Adsense forum here for "privacy policy" and you'll find a bunch of posts about sample privacy policies and generators. Here are a few to start with:

Thanks for the links, I probably read too fast or was lazy the first time around! ... still haven't seen anything about whether the PP needs to be linked from all pages displaying adsense, or just our home page. I guess better safe then sorry :/ Rep added!
