    Hi friends,

There are a lot of expired domain names (With page rank too) that have been dropped one or more than one times.

So, buying dropped names with or without page rank is a good deal ?

    Please share you opinions :)

If it is the right domain name and a good fit for your project, then yes.
Most of the time that kind of PR will either drop or disappear after the
    next Google update.
However, if you dig in and develop the domain in some way,
build quality links, and perhaps keep the content in line with what the domain
had on in the past(when it attained the PR standing)...oh yes, and resubmit
    to search engines.
    You might stand a chance.

Another good thing about dropped domains is that they may have residual
traffic...that translates to some free traffic for you and if you work on
    your content and monetization.

One disadvantage of a dropped domain is that it is considered as lacking
age; since whois records count age from the most recent registration.

I don't care about if the domain has dropped or if there is any pagerank. The only thing that matters with domains is the quality of the name & the strength of the extention.

I have reg some domains that were dropped with PR. If you do not develop it, it will lose its PR or it will drop. But even than sometimes it will drop regardless.

I have bought 1 PR4 domain and has maintained its PR4 for more than 9 months and has survived all the PR updates.

Dropped domain names are ok, but if you find a name which is not dropped and which you like, go for it.

It would be a gamble, but as long as your website has unique content, then you should be good ;)

Another thing about dropped domain names; you may want to investigate their previous use.
A good place to start is the way back machine on archive.org
Previously misused domain names may have residual bans/blacklisting, which could affect your ability
to get indexed in search engines, among other things.

@mozzeratti, I have a domain which was registered first time in Mar 2001 then a good site was running till Dec2003. Then I don't know when it got expired (I guess in Mar 2004). Then I got this domains in Oct 2007. THREE years are missing.

My question is-- What age will google count for this domain -- 8 Yrs or 1Yrs? Will I get some negative effect because of missing 3 yrs? Or I'll get benefits as domain was first registered in 2001?

Vinod age of your domain is now one year and there are no positive and negative effect will be added on this domain because its just a one year old domain now, but it will count as a drop domain :)
