people are what you are marketing too. So instead of a strategy of machine study the ways to influence people and get them to click on your add or site. It will increase your efforts tremendously.

I ave been applying the principles of how to win friends and influence people and it has been increasing my marketing efforts tremendously

so thinking outside the box on your computer can have many positive effects on and offline

so try reading a book that relates to your site or business and use a principle in human influence and it can't hurt

Pointless post, obviously webmasters should learn about the customer and what influences them, that's what marketing is. You are so far inside the box, you just gave an off beat definition of marketing.
All he is saying is get your product out there and make the costumer feel like he/she needs it. "That is the worst idea. Why would you want the customer to actually want your product?"
Erik you need to start all over.

I've discovered that if pose a few questions to my list to find out more about what they're looking for, I have a better response when it come to promoting
    a product or service.

You have to build a relationship with your list. That doesn't mean spending all of your time chatting to each and everyone. Just make sure that you do "the feel good" things. Reward your list and they will reward you.

The key is to seek to attract and mantain attention to a product or a service.
