How can I get my site from position nr. 50 in "MSN Search" to 1st page again?

    My site: http://www.smilies.name

    Note - It was always ranked nr. 5 (keyword: smilies) in "MSN Search" for several months, but since January it lost it's high position within MSN Search!

    How can I get back my 1st page ranking for keyword "smilies"?

    1. Do I need to add more quantity & quality back links? Which one is more important for "MSN Search"?

    2. Maybe I should changing around text of "title & Hx" of my site a little bit?
    Though both have already my main keyword "smilies" inside!

    3. Adding more to content like my main keyword "smilies"?
    PS - When I check density now it shows 15.56 & 21 times repeat, that should be high enough/fine, correct?

    4. Maybe adding synoniem keywords to my content will give a boost, like: smileys, emoticons, etc.?

    5. Or adding content which is more close related to my main keyword "smilies" in order to get the job done:
    animated smilies, free smilies, msn smilies, yahoo smilies, funny smilies, aim smilies, etc. (keyword tool)

    What is your opinion or suggestion what to change to my site in order to improve rankings? Maybe you would like to add some techniques I can use to get better rankings?

    Many thanks! :)

    As i can see your site is full of smilies..hehe, what i mean is that it all points to your affiliate sites, why dont you create pages within your site that have anchor text like "Yahoo Smilies" linking to pages within your site. You are just giving your affiliates a rank in MSN. This happens most of the time because some guys are linking the keyword in their website to affiliate links. That is why sometimes some crappy affiliate links from CJ appears in MSN.

    Thanks Psyberweb!
    But my affiliate urls have my ID. inside so that shouldn't be a problem I guess! :)

    Question: Do search engines love when I link within my sites to other pages or this doesn't have much value for search engines? Each link will of course have 'anchor keyword text'. :)

    Yes linking within your site to other pages would be good.Why don't you create pages for yahoo smilies, msn smilies and so on. then within those pages would be a link to your affiliate. Why don't you write a simple paragraph what smilies is all about and some instructions as well how to install those smilies would be great.

    And lastly you might want to add some keywords in your meta.

    Place this inside your head.

    Just 2 suggestiona:
    Improve your internal linking
    Start gettting loads of links with the proper anchor text(keywords) and you will be at the top within 7-8 days. you can use artilcesm directories, forums, blogs for one-way links

    robot.txt doesn't make the site indexed. It is not neccessary.

    it is only neccessary when you want to prevent search engines from part or all of your site.

    I have same problem with you.
    since oct, 2005 till last 2 days. one of my site was always ranked 5-10. today my site was gone from MSN :confused:

    keyword is : hyip
    my website url is : http://www.hyip-expert.com

    last 2 days ago I made change to my website ( to get best position at Yahoo ) :

    • reduce keyword HYIP from meta name keywod from 9 to 7 words
    • removed this meta name
      <meta name="ROBOTS" content="ALL,FOLLOW,INDEX">
      <meta name="GOOGLEBOT" content="ARCHIVE,INDEX,FOLLOW">
      <meta name="rating" content="General">
      <meta name="revisit-after" content="2 days">
      Code (markup):
    • reduced "HYIP" from H1 Heading Text from 2 words to 1.
      from : HYIP - Expert - Real and Trusted HYIP Monitoring
      to : HYIP - Expert - Real and Trusted Monitoring Services : Introduction

      Reason :
      The keyword density for the search term "HYIP" is 28.6%. This is too high in the H1 headline texts
    • Reduce site link texts : HYIP
      I used the search term "HYIP" 22 times in the same site link texts. This is too often. so I make change with reduce it.

    The result is :
    1. my website was gone from MSN with keyword : HYIP
    2. no result for Yahoo :D

    Any advice and suggestion ?

    Thanks

    Just a couple of things I have noticed about MSN.. They like keywords in inbound links. Internal links with keywords also help. Full URLs in the internal links seems to help rankings. Look at the bottom links of this office equipment site to see what I am talking about. Now about your Keyword Density, 28.6% is high.

    I don't want to be kind of anti-seo or anything and I am sure all your information is quite informative but did you ever think of using their search results feedback form?

    Just ask them to bump it they will if you ask nicely and you replace a spamy listing etc.

    " speaking only from experience "

    MSN is the only search engine that will do this in almost 3 days lol

    I also suggest submitting using msn.com.url

    And when you get your top ranking again .. don't become complacent with link dev .. keep going for QUALITY links from other sites that are relevant .. with your target phrase as anchor .. nice thing about MSN is they do reward for less effort than some of the other household names .. and in less time .. also .. do backlink checks for some of your competition on MSN and see what's up .. you'll learn a lot ..
