MSN getting slow in counting backlinks?

Discussion in 'Bing' started by mahmood, May 8, 2006.

In the past MSN would count the number of backlinks in less that 3-4 days but now I notice it is very slow on this matter.

    Anybody same experience?

Yeah I've seen the same thing. Now it's taking more than a week to update backlinks

Some of our recently added links were listed in MSN's results within 12hrs.

It all depends on which websites u r linking to. If you are linking to a website which is loved by MSN bot ur links get listed faster... I have always found my backlinks listed in MSN within 12-48 hrs.

Same here msn bots have used more bw that i can use by browsing my site.

But this month i noticed googlebot taking over and beating msn bot and i am shocked that googlebot has already had 1095 hits this month using up 17 mb of bw. whereas msn only had 500hits using up only 7mb bw. So definately msn has slowed down.

I also believe MSN is changing something in their crawling pattern. We'll just have to wait and see what they are up to. I doubt if this will be a bad thing in the long run, just a small change while they update their engine to better compete with Google and Yahoo.

Just a preliminary analysis, but it seems as though MSN is digging deeper into certain sites it really enjoys (have tried to identify the common denomenator, and it seems to be tied to continual link dev with not a lot, but a few quality links in) .. sites that I've spent less time on, or have lesser quality inbounds, MSN has been not .. um .. wasting time with.

Could MSN as an SE be growing up and getting serious about quality search ?

MSN is doing something that changes how they rank websites. I think this has to do with the Windows Live thing.

If this theory came out to be true there would be some dramatic results.
First it means that link selling would lose it's biggest market and second that we are going to see some more unexpected behaviours from MSN.

In the past MSN had tried to mimic Google but they didn't manage. This time it seems more serious.

The problem is that we don't know exactly what they want.
