My first day I received 107 visitors. The very next day, it dropped down to 10 visitors, then 4, then 5, and now 0. Is this normal???
The traffic will always fluctuate. BUT don't forget it's really hard to make money from stumbleupon traffic and I suggest you look into different sources of traffic if your intention is to make money off it.
The easiest way to promote is to write articles about dating and first send them to ezinearticles and then when they go live put them on your blog and then submit them to social bookmarking sites like digg and propeller. Good luck
Traffic from all social bookmarking sites has a quick boost and then dies quick. Back when I first started (Feb '08), one of my blog post got thousands of clicks for a week from stumbleupon....and then disappeared into the wind. Just last week I had post up on Propeller than got over 4,000 hits (and was on the front homepage), and then it dropped to something like 1 or 2 hits every other day on that one particular post. Bottom line, just keep writing fresh unique content to get those hits from social bookmarking sites...and of course search engines, on a more consistent basis. Oh yeah, one more thing, I know many already know this, but I figured I'll mention...VERY interesting and attention grabbing titles and descriptions of your social bookmark submission is how you can get a ton of traffic.
I can't believe you even got the initial number. My stumble upon numbers were very low. What did you do initially?
My SU traffic is always poor in quality. VERY low browse time, almost no bookmarks. I don't rely on it, or expect much from it.
I believe this is the truth, besides Google is very temperamental indexing sites one day yes and the other not, then returning back. Sort of same behavior observed at HubPages and Squido lenses.
It's not high quality traffic anyway. SU users tend to click on very few ads or purchase any products. Unless you have a really awesome site, with an awesome deal, SU traffic is not worth the time or bandwidth IMO.
To atract traffic do write some quality content and submit it in ezine for free article directories . By this you will get boom and backlink too . Than go to social bookmarking and other network and do some marketing work . If your article has power to attract people than you can see the reaction soon .
I found that traffic from them is all over the place. Some days I got hundreds of visitors and some days none...In general though the traffic didn't convert to much.
It also depends which category on stumbleupon you selects for your campaign. Some are active, some not.
SU traffic can be great if you know how to use it. Try using it for linkbait and branding rather than concentrating on how many visitors click your ads. SU users don't give a crap about your ads or any other junk that you're selling. They want interesting content and many of them are webmasters who just might give you some links. Just be sure you can afford the bandwidth. I've rarely gotten more than 10-20k visitors in one day, though.
We get a Stumbleupon spike every month or so, but rarely any real activity is generated. We also invested in advertising without much luck. As a search/surf tool it's fantastic, but it's difficult to gain anything of real value as a publisher.
