I am considering building a website but after talking to a few people who have done so they always suggest getting a good web host which not only has a good page builder that is very flexible.

I would like to find out from all of you out there which are the best overall web hosts out there, that you would be willing to recommend .

    Thank you Craig

Are you looking for any certain features? VPS? Shared hosting? Dedicated?

    Webfusion (UK)
    Good 2 years ago
Reliable (site never been down in four years)
Not the 'best' deals on web space / bandwidth
    2 sites hosted here
    Would not use again

    Bluehost (US Based)
    Cheap
    Loads of space
    Seems a fast site
    Loads of bandwidth
    3 sites hosted here
    Would use again
    Would use for 'test' projects
If big project, go with below

    Media Temple
    $200 per year
    Grid Service
    2 sites hosted here
    1 appears slow
    1 appear super fast
    Quick to help
    First class back end
    Would use again
    For 'professional' approach

What sort of requirements/budget do you have?

I personally use Dreamhost and have found that they are a great shared host that has satisfied all of my requirements for the time being (lots of space/bandwidth, unlimited domains/databases, and good support).

In the past I used 100 Webspace and found them to be reliable and cheap, but I have since outgrown their hosting.

I use DreamHost for few of my websites. It has been a year with them and I am not having any problems with them. Customer Support is pretty fast and efficient too.

Many hosts offer site builders and templates. What is your knowledge of html or css. Do you have any experience with Dreamweaver?

For shared hosting, I must say that I have a good experience with the. So far, there is no downtime and the customer support is great.

    hostmonster.com
offers a good deal, but I found it to be often 'down.'
and when I say often I mean like 3 times in the last 3 months for at least one day(that I know of.)
