Hi, I was wondering, as I create new pages and link them back to my index page, how many are needed to increase page rank to the index page. Does each new original internal page then impart .25 PR to the Index Page or something?
This varies in a lot of ways. Not all pages are ranked the same so no one page will contribute the same as another. If all your pages are ranked the same then each new page you add will contribute less and also decrease how much every other page helps your PR. For example; if you have six pages all the same rank, each page will contribute .16 to your index, and if you add three pages giving you a total of nine pages then each page will contribute .11 to your index.
Inner pages linked to the index won't help your PR that much unless the inner pages have backlinks them self !!!
really? then tell me ... where does all that PR come from? get the irony? all pagerank originate from pages, it needs a link to be counted and passed on, but all the pagerank in the world is the sum of all the pages ! so, yes, if you keep adding tons of pages, your PR will rise !! check this tool: http://www.webworkshop.net/pagerank_calculator.php
Adding internal pages do help in increasing PR, but no one can tell how much a page will help, only google knows about it. And links from pages from other sites help more to increase PR, compared to internal links.
It's more like 0.0000000000001 In order to increase your PR it's a better idea to get quality links from high PR sites.
Whenever possible, given a chance with the right keyword, you should find every opportunity to link to every page not only the index page. To go for every page should be impossible but try to maximize, the more the better.
you definitely need to stop thinking in terms of "how do I increase my pagerank" think in terms of how do I build a better site and get more traffic and your pagerank will increase if you manage it. if you build loads of inner pages with no pagerank they'll all just go supplemental and do you no good at all.
+ Rep As well as the calculator, have a read of this great explanation. http://www.webworkshop.net/pagerank.html Cheers James
