I've been using Dreamweaver for years in code view, but as I don't use any of the features that Dreamweaver offers, moved over to textpad. Unfortunately, lack of formatting of text lead me to seek out a free alternative, and I found this site (alleycode.com) which I've been using for a while now. Some nice features if you want to use them, and good clear formatting of the code so you can see what you are doing easier.

    I've been using HTML Kit.

Does any of the other ones listed do cut/paste on multiple files at once? I thought I had seen that somewhere.

I use Notepad++ for creating my sites, or sometimes I use regular Notepad. It also helps when validating and you get the line numbers, so you'll know exactly where to go. I've tried html-kit, but it didn't work for me; I didn't like the interface.

Anyway, I hate WYSIWYG editors. And in general, I hate pre-made templates, in fact my entire site's design is my idea; although of course, I am not saying that it's anything special ...

I'm usually coding everything in Visual Studio but that's because all my sites are .Net. I have however recently done a HTML only site (purely because I needed to get it up fast) and am using Dreamweaver to do it.

While Dreamweaver is very good for this type of site, I do find that it crashes quite a lot when sites get large and there are more than 100 pages to update when you change a template/element.

I only wish my host could provide .Net, but then I wouldn't be getting 2000Gb of bandwidth I guess.
