I've found out that many Adsense account has been closed because some of the webmaster didn't use border to differentiate Adsense ads with the article or graphics. Due to this matter, it's good to have a visible border within the ads.

BTW, you can experiment some technique that stated in this thread from the beginning and ask Google if the technique void the TOS.

Border around your Adsense Ads. You must set a visible border if there is other images located near the ads.

Oh... did they specify how close you can get to the ads without having to have a border around ads?

    Great Idea. Great Site.

You've moved your ads to middle of the page. Any reason why you do that?
    Hows the CTR?

    Regards

i would not put images by your ads
especially the ones posted above with the photoshop boxes and stuff..
i asked google about this. they said...

    Hello Ryan,

Thanks for your email. In general, you're welcome to place images near
    the
Google ads on your site. However, some implementations are not
    permitted
by our program policies, so we ask that you exercise some caution when
    choosing or placing the images.

To be specific, we ask that publishers not place misleading images near
Google ads or use images that appear to be directly associated with the
advertisers and their offerings. Such images may draw undue attention
    to
the ads and prompt unintentional user clicks, thereby artificially
inflating advertiser costs. As you may know, drawing undue attention to
ads is in violation of our program policies, so we're unable to approve
the placement of all images next to Google ads.

If you choose to experiment with placing images directly next to the
    ads,
I'd strongly encourage you to maintain a visible border around the ad
units to reduce the possibility of confusing users.

For additional questions, we suggest you visit our AdSense Help Center
    at
https://www.google.com/support/adsense . If you're unable to find an
answer to your question on our site, please feel free to reply to this
    email.

That is very true. Congrats there mate. Ever since I added picture in my 4 ad unit in similar fashion it quadruples the amount of clicks.

If you put pictures above the ads, expecting a 25%-50% clicks might not be difficult for anyone. Just a tip;)

Misleading. In other words if your niche is relating car insurance and you put a sexy latina above the ad...it will be a violation.

Now I got myself a new question. The google department has seen my websites and depending on the reviewer...my images can go both ways.

I will probably have to send google an email about this before I start receiving traffic.

    Thanks for the update libertygone;)

By reading posts by banned people, I believe that it is hard to get banned so long as you don't try to deceive your visitors or Google. In most cases, people are banned for fraudulent clicks (typically by themselves or by someone on their schoolbus). If you use ads to deceive, you can expect to be banned too.

Don't be deceptive and you should be fine.

Disabled because of this? It's possible there is a misunderstanding here, given your post of May 9th:

In any case, we are sorry that your account was disabled in error, if you didn't do anything wrong against the program policies.
