--- I could not find a better place to post this. ---

I have a website which has a community with more than 70,0000 members, these are opt-in list. Now I have extracted emails from the community forum and would like to send newsletter to all the members, for the same site ofcourse. I have sorted emails by domain and created list for each domain. i.e gmail, yahoo, hotmail etc

I am using phplist to send the bulk email, My problem is that gmail had temporarily blocked my IP when I started sending email to gmail list which was around 9K. Not more than 300 emails were delivered and rest were in the Mail Queue.

My question is, How do I send emails to everyone without getting blocked out? I'm not spamming in any case. Following is the error I got when trying to send further emails to gmail users.

Here's an incredibly obvious idea: use something other than Gmail :)

    Hi,

I'm not using gmail to send emails, I have my own dedicated server. The problem is with sending mass emails to people on list.

I'm looking for some header information to be used in the email so it is recoganized as bulk email and the IP is not blocked or some other solution which can help me send to a large list.

You could send about 10 - 25 emails each 5 minutes instead of a lot at once. It can be done with a simple php script.

I'm using phplist, it by default adds 'Precedence: bulk' in the headers. My problem is that I have large number of gmail and yahoo users on the list and the server sends a large volume to these domains which gets me into temp blacklisting of IP.

Where can I find a sending limit per hour or per day basis for these domains? So I can add those settings to phplist.

Do not sort your list by domain name, make it random so you are sending to several other domain names so you are not hammering yahoo and gmail one after the other. I have not used PHPList so I do not know how to setup a "timer" per say with it to slow down the mailings.
