Hey guys I'm having another problem with my virtual dedicated server. It is apache with cent os and this morning i work up to it not working. The only thing i know is that it is a named problem i talked to godaddy and all they would tell me is

"The Bind service is not currently running on your server and is unable to start. It does not appear that named is listening on port 953 on your server. This can be due to the iptables that you have enabled. We would recommend configuring your server to allow access on port 953. "

So i asked them how to fix it and they gave me this

"The issue occurring is related to bind and the bind libraries. BIND is a type of DNS service. The actual process on the server that runs BIND is named. When we attempt to start this service the following error occurs:

    root@ip-208-109-196-43 [~]# /etc/init.d/named start
Starting named: /usr/sbin/named: symbol lookup error: /usr/sbin/named: undefined symbol: dns_dispatch_hash [FAILED] "

I've researched and am lost, on top of that i got a major headache and i just want this problem go away Could somebody please help me i will pay some one to fix the problem for me as long as you have good rep on here can't just give access to my server to anyone :D so if you can do this easy fix for me I'll pay ya or hook you up in someway :D

    Yes.

Is it a cPanel machine, and have you changed and config files recently (like /etc/named.conf)?

Try updating BIND. It should resolve the problem for you.

"named has failed, please contact the sysadmin (result was "named is not running")."

    and when i enter
    iptables -F

    Try running (in SSH):

    /scripts/fixrndc
    /scripts/fixndc

    If that doesn't work, run:

    /scripts/fixeverything

On a side note, those errors occur sometimes as a result of a typo or missing comma in named.conf

Not this kind of error (see OP). It was specific to the installation.

Yep, but using ye ol' way of RPMs :D Yum was being amazingly unhelpful, and somehow there were mismatched dependencies.
