I think PayPal is still seen by many people as the standard, and I'm not really sure what Google Checkout offers to the buyer or seller above and beyond what PayPal does. I prefer PayPal simply because I already have an account setup, plus they allow me to fund payments from my bank account rather than a credit card.

I have Paypal but am really considering Google, I like the additional logo space created in Ads, the kick back they give you for running an ad, which actually reduces your rate per transaction and finally they just dominate, I am so sick of Autho-net their fees and lack of support in set up.

There's a lot more out there than just paypal and google. I've personally have better experience dealing with niche processors than I have money transfer services like paypal. For example plimus and fastspring for software, ccbill and epoch for adult, and so on. The processors that focus on a niche tend to offer much more personal support and have a catalog of features tailored to the market you're in.

If you have a membership/subscription business model and need recurring billing and user management, or are just new to online and need a processor experienced with helping new businesses get started in the online market I recommend EC Suite.

Paypal is good but more people would know and therefore trust Google. From that point, more sales from internet beginners and internet savy buyers would not have issues using Google.
