Alive Directory what a joke

I may be new to this forum but i certainly aint new to the internet and web directories.

I have seen many people not just here but around the web naming alivedirectory.com as a quality web directory, well maybe it once was but how the hell can mystikmedia justify his submission fees for what is now far from a quality directory.

Just 110 indexed pages and absolutly no page rank.

Plus at the time of this post the site is down with fatal errors.

Also noticed that ever since he was Slapped by the almighty god of Google he is no where to be seen around here.

CUE: mikey and the likes.

Well, it helps to do some homework before you submit to a paid directory...

just because 90% of you dont like to upset the so called big boys does`nt me others cant these things need to be said and i am going to say them

this is just the beginning.............

i have never submitted to this web directory not before and certainly not now.

there are a lot of people out there unaware of directories like this being slapped and they need to know about them.

 

The directory is down and has been down a few times lately.

I think the submission fees were based on the high PageRank that the directory had, the problem is does he reduce the submission fee? This could upset people that paid before the penalization.
The owner used to support lots of directories so I’m sure plenty of people will post and defend him.

I’m not sure you deserved the unsigned red, but some people are protective of people that used to spend money. In truth your post makes a lot of sense.

Allthought you have right in some points all people will think that
you have something personal with the owner.Thats the only conclusion.

 

Alive, Bluefind and that other one I can never remember, was set up to extract money and nothing more.

They were very good cons and many fell for it. Now the conned are crying on every forum there is.

the comments are quite harsh but has some sense.

it is other's business. maybe alive still has good traffic.

 

A sub 100k Alexa is pretty respectable for a directory

 

Alexa is a joke, it's so easy to manipulate thus it's worthless as an indicator.

alivedirectory.com used to be a quality web directory, it has as Mikey pointed out become sadly neglected. However I haven`t seen anyone refer to it in such a manner since the penalties were handed out, or in other words it has been a long time since I saw someone refer to it that way.

As for his fees, thats really up to him TBH just like it is with every directory owner. There is no set guideline as to say that PR4-5-6 is worth X amount especially if they have Y amount of back links and Z amount of Alexa. If customers don't like the prices they move on. I have never once seen a web directory justify it's pricing structure not even any of the big guns such as Yahoo or Business.com

Well that is largely because of the penalties and because of....

It is not the first time that it has been down and if it is down then the powers that be wont be able to index it. On this there is no arguing because I do think that it is wrong for it to be left in such a state after a lot of people spent money on it.

However I also don't think it fair to highlight just one directory because there were a number which just completely disapeared when Google handed out the penalties (both owner and directory) a good example of this is dreamdirectory.com though I don't recall the owner he was an active member here until the penalties.

As far as I am concerned you have to take the rough with the smooth, too many took the smooth and bailed when the rough came about.

IIRC he was another one of the members who was run out of the forum and it is no suprise that he doesn't post he any longer.

If you don't want "mikey" and "the likes" to comment then why are you posting on a forum?
