New to AdSense and have question about .SSI's

Hello All,

I've kept up a personal website for some time now but recently decided to place advertisments in an attempt to cover expenses. I placed google adsense code in an server side include file and put it on all of my pages. On half of the pages the ads relate to my content but on the other half they don't. Does this have something to do with the code being in an included file?

Also, my site sees between 50 and 400 uniquie visitors a day depending on what is happening (new pages, forum posts, etc....).... can I expect to cover the cost of hosting and possibly add a little cash to my poker account using adsense?

Adsense has been up for 15 day and I'm averaging 3-6 clicks a day.... 3%. Is this normal?

You can put ads on the school site, but don't ask your student to click the ads. Also it's against Google's TOS to post your stats here.

The SSI shouldn't have anything to do with it. When the spider comes to the site, it scans whatever the HTML looks like. The only problems adsense has is with frames, and there is a variable that google uses to point framed pages to the content of said pages in order to display relevent ads.

You should be fine with an SSI.

Not at all. AS is a real-world application, and sometimes it won't perfectly match your content. Try to use some well-known keywords throughout your content.

This is dependant on content, client base, and ad relevancy. Some sites have clickthrus of 20-30%, others are mere fractions of percents...you shouldn't be as concerned with CTR averages as you should be with methods to increase your CTR.

Dear Teach, you may want to edit your first posting to remove your stats as it is against G's TOS.

 

i would say 3% is quite good. some sites, e.g. forums average less than 0.5%.

If you cannot edit it, PM a mod to remove it.

 

do you have a username of one of the admins?

 

you should be able to click on the edit button on the post in question. Look at the post, there should be an edit button on there.

Also, I don't think G is gonna clip you for what you said before. But, you should be able to edit it no problem
