    You need to create more backlinks to your site. Make sure they are links from sites related to the content you are offering. To create more backlinks you can browse related do follow blogs and comment on the content on that site. You can also add your url to the signature spot on forums.

    Best way to increase pagerank is to provide quality and unique contents and then participate in related websites, forums and if people will find your posts interesting and useful, they will naturally link to you.

    Always remember, all big blogs and website does not beg for backlinks, they get it naturally because they provide good contents.

    Anyways, to be able to increase your pagerank you should read more references or browse some other threads regarding tips, and other information. =)

    ex: social bookmarking, forum signatures, submissions, articles, etc

    Legitimate directories are your first call. You will get some good linkis from these. But PR is really not an issue anymore. Yes it matters a bit but no where near as much as it did in 2001 -2004.

    Typically hypocritically google says submit to Yahoo directory for a "paid link". Someone slap me butt is that not just talking out of your bottom and then letting you bottom respond in kind?

    This is a very Utopian view of how to get links. You will be waiting forever and to be honest people are not that interested in linking to other peoples content. No matter how good you think your content might be.

    To further your argument you might add "Get a doctorate or professorship and produce ground breaking work then people will link to it."

    ok so to increase you page rank... learn the mantra... link building... this is the only thing which can help and how

    - write some good quality articles... which others might want to read and will link to it... preferably some information driven article...
    - bookmarking
    - blog/forum commenting
    - and yes some good SEO (meta tags)

    and lastly!!! HARD WORK... this is all you need for a good PR :)

    Submit links to social bookmarking sites that are dofollow
    Forum Posting
    Exchanging link with relevant sites

    Your statement is showing lack of confidence. People always interested to link interesting contents. Every news has a single source and it spreads all over the internet just because of natual linking. People link to TechCrunch or CNN or Reuters or SlashDot if something they find good. In the same way, you can think your website as TechCrunch, Slashdot or any other known name. People will start linking to you.

    Never loose your confidence in growing phase of your website. You will see good results later for sure.
