Yahoo Publisher Network Terminates More Publisher Accounts

Discussion in 'Publisher Network' started by jacksmith, May 3, 2006.

while reading my rss i came across this article which talks about yahoo terminating publisher accounts because they were found using MySpace to send traffic to their ‘legitimate’ website which has YPN. The thrust of the reason given to them for the termination was that the traffic being sent was not of a ‘high enough quality’ and myspace mostly consists of click-friendly teens thus causing click frauds. couple of months back few accounts were terminated because they were having lot of international traffic(don't know what Yahoo meant by THAT!)
All this account termination has scared me and I have decided not to spend any more of my time and energy in ypn.

MySpace is a site that YPN uses to update publishers as to when YPN will go International.

Yes it was a joke.... i_am_dhaval asks at least twice a week when YPN is going to be in India. Also he wanted to know which bank the YPN check was issued. Fishy....

I dont think u can transfer as people that have been banned would be trying to get good standing accounts transfered.

Thats totally different case xboxundone. You can do nothing with banned account. Even if you can transfer YPN account(which is not possible as far as I know) then also it would not make it active, would it?

This is totally wrong, YPN won't ban anyone who has posted URL on MySpace. They ban for the massive amount of international traffic. Therefore, publishers ought use GeoIP included my sites :p

ofcourse YPN won't banner everyone who use MySpace, but poor quality of traffic is the reason given behind such bans. I personally would remove ads from my site if huge number of visitors start coming to my cite with very less click through ratio because if i don't remove the ads then I would also end up with rest of banned publishers, and I DON'T want that to happen.

If you have an account in a company name and TAX ID, and you sell the company... it would no longer be 'your' YPN account if you no longer own the company... rihgt? You wouldn't even be changing the Payee, I'm pretty sure this isnt a problem. Someone should ask YPN about it if they are really trying to buy websites using YPN accounts.

I personally find it to lack any real details on how the judge the quality becasue if its solely on numbers then the system is flawed.
