I have reason to believe that these aren't so bad afterall. My main competitor has been very high in google ever since I started out. Most of his links are from related/unrelated blogspot blogs, meaning all the domains are .blogspot.com This is against the popular belief that this is bad.
It's far better to get links from different c-class ips otherwise someone could build a network of sites and just interlink them and become pr6's site wide ps.. I'm sure blogspot uses several ip's
what links you see might not be the only links your competitor has. there could be lot of other links that google doesn;t display. besides, its the quality of links also. related few good quality backlinks will help you lot better than unrelated same class C lot of backlinks
I never check google links. I know my seo enough to know that they don't give the full range. These links are checked with 3 different backlink checkers.
Backlinks from different domains (or sub domains) is what is most important. If there is a discount from being on the same c class, it is very minimal.
I find that the links from all the same domain have some value just not as much as links for all different sites. I also think links from sites on different IPs plays a part also.
It really depend on your keyword... sometimes good ranking with the same ip class links is just a matter of low competition
It is not like you have a choice to choose between different IP address or same ip address or same C class or different C Class. You got to get the backlinks whereever you can get it from. Of course the prereference would be different C class, then different IP Address, then different web site, then same website, then no follow - in that order.
