Starter's Dilemma - Unable to accrue decent EPC / Network Earnings

    Hi all,

Not exactly new to AM, but new to CJ as I'm promoting CPA offers more. Decided to give CJ a shot recently, but I realized it has proven pretty tough.

All the decent programs I applied to were automatically rejected, and even after e-mailing those advertisers, the replies I got was either my account EPC was too low, or I had no network earning bars.

Question to seasoned vets in CJ out there is, how do I get a decent EPC, if the campaigns I'm allowed to run have like a very lousy EPC? And a lousy EPC will of course lead to less profitability, which will show up as a low network earning, etc. etc. How do you guys recommending starting off? Slowly accruing EPC and improving on it over time, or keep applying to good programs in CJ until one decides to accept you and then capitalizing it?

Also, what do the bars represent on a monthly income level? 5 bars = >$10k/month? Anybody could clarify?

    Thanks all in advance

EPN is junk. The sooner you dump it the sooner better off you will be. Find a good program on CJ and push that instead. EPN is not liked by Google search engine and so you will spend a bunch trying to promote anyting from EPN. Chances are against you, you are more likely to lose money. Creating blogs and backlinks is a waste of time. Get rid of EPN - NOW!

Just a side note. Why do you think, after so many requests, the DIGITALPOINT mods still have not created a separate forum for EPN?

    That's your answer.

Dude, you need to not let your hatred of ebay cloud your vision. Did you even READ the thread?

I usually promote the merchants that have at least 4 green bar.

Ummm .. I have had GREAT success with signing up with Advertisers. See if you are doing something wrong ...

    1. Are you Bulk-Signing up with Advertisers? I mean, are you selecting multiple programs and applying in one go?
    2. If yes, apply to programs One-By-One. I know, time consuming, but u will be amazed. Most of the advertisers which auto-declined, if u re-apply One-by-one, most of them will put ur application to Pending Review Status.
    3. If still some advertisers decline, then write to them a VERY professional email. I'm pasting an example below which got me great success while signing up with advertisers.

Subject: Publisher Approval Request - CJ ID - XXXXXXX

Subject: Publisher Approval Request - CJ ID - XXXXXXX
    Program Applied For: POETRY

    Good Day,

My name is XXX, a publisher at Commission Junction. I'm a graduate in Computer Technology from XXXXXX. I'm an entrepreneur and currently working on different website portals. Here are my details:

Site URL: www.yoursite.com (Description: Yoursite.com offers many products with promisingly low rates, coupons, blah blah blah).
    PID: XXXXXX

Site URL: www.yoursecondsite.com (Description: Yoursecondsite.com offers many products with promisingly low rates, coupons, blah blah blah).
    PID: YYYYYY

Site URL: www.yourthirdsite.com (Description: Yourthirdsite.com offers many products with promisingly low rates, coupons, blah blah blah).
    PID: ZZZZZZ

My first site has xxxx uniques per month and my second site has xxxx uniques per month and my third site which is a heavy project has xxxxx uniques per month. All of my websites are professionally setup. I have plans to actively participate in CJ Marketplace and give the best results.

I applied for your publisher program, however, my application was declined. It is to request you to approve my application, since I can assure, I will actively participate in your publisher program and bring more sales for you. I'm investing more money in building up quality websites/portals which will attract more potential customers and hence, increase your sales. I will actively participate in your publisher program at Commission Junction and be among the top publishers to promote your website, services and products.

Please approve my CJ ID for your publisher program. I look forward to a great business relationship with you.

    Thanks & Regards,
    Mr. ZZZZZ ZZZZZZ,
    BE - Computer Technology,

    ---------------------------------------------------------

Please think logically, why will the advertisers like to give you a chance to promote their products through your website. ONLY if they think that you are a potentially good publisher and working with you will be good for their eBusiness. Include as much description as possible about your plans on 'How you intend to be fruitful to them and promote their products'.

Hope this helps ... Good Luck!

    Regards,
    Andy.

I'm not sure which advertisers you chose and whats your website's topic. However, I'm sure, there are some advertisers who accept/allow everyone and those are some good advertisers, not lousy at all.
Cant provide an example since I can't access cj.com right now, however, there are couple of ways to get going.

    1. Convince the advertisers that you wish to promote. Keep writing to them and keep telling them how you can promote their services and products. No one is so hard-headed that they wont be convinced if you write professional emails to them explaining that you are going to be a good asset for them.
    2. Provide proof of the traffic and your success with other companies. Tell them that you are new to CJ, thats the reason your earnings are low.

There are other ways but those are pretty hard ways... for eg., Design a new site and promote some other advertiser which is good and has approved your application or promote that advertiser on your existing sites. Once you develop/generate a few sales, you can get back to your favorite advertisers and show them the results.
I'm not really a seasoned vet, but I had success with almost all advertisers although my earning so far is Zero lol. Only Ebay.com has bounced/rejected my application so far.
Try different things buddy, if you are in US, goto the advertiser's site and take the contact number and dial it ... Have a word with their Affiliation Manager ... I'm sure they will approve your request.

    Regards,
    Andy.

You can also take a screenshot of your Google Analytics dashboard showing traffic trend of your website. Send the image file to the Affiliate Manager.

Yeah ... that will surely help. All in all, you just have to prove that you are a good webmaster and you can deliver results if given some time. I'm sure, you will be accepted in the system.
