Can DP ids be hacked?

I was just surfing the net, when my friend called me up and told his yahoo account was hacked and was sending abuses to all his messenger contact ids.
Though that case was solved, i just had a thought what IF MY DP ACCOUT IS HACKED?

    Firstly, is it possible?
Second, what are the measures to be taken in case such things happen?
Thirdly, Are there any precautions to it?

There are so many people who literally LIVE HERE. They just come back from work , and stick to DP for hours either for entertainment or for Earning.

Imagining a situation where a member who has several thousand posts and hundreds of i-traders,has his account hacked..... is terrible.
I just hope this never happens to me, i am working hard and DP is the only place where i get my pocket money from....

    Thanks DP:D

Sure they can get hacked, especially if you leave passwords laying around or send them via IM/email. It's not that common and I don't think you have anything to worry about, just don't tell people your password!

In my experience, some people forget to change passwords around when doing a site transfer on the BST, and those passwords could be the same ones used to log onto DP. Happens all the time.

    *whistles innocently*

    What? :D

Yes, this is true of course, i will never give my DP password to anyone(not even to mods:D,just joking) But i saw on the net, that hackers use some kind of software to get the passwords, so my next question is ..... Can such kind of softwares be used hack into other people's account in DP? And if yes, then is there to stop your account being hacked by these softwares?

There might be some kind of precautions that one must take against such unknown softwares, isn't?
If anyone is well educated in this topic can PLEASE teach me how to be on the safer side(please mention all the points, except giving passwords yourself,it's already been mentioned)

I doubt some one will try to hack your dp password as it nots worthy much unless you have 100 itrader points and some wants to rip a couple hundred people off ;)

Although its very easy to hack a id whether it be dp, yahoo, hotmail or any online banking accounts you just have to think back to basics ;) Thats all im saying before i get an infraction for promoting hacking lol :D

Your best bet is to use a password that you have never used in the past and will never use again.

Google "hacking forums" and view some of the threads, good hackers can hack just about anything they want including your paypal account.

Be sure to export all of your PM's so a hacker is not able to read all of your PM's that might contain password to your websites or whatever else you share in your pm's.

Members accounts have been hijacked from time to time. A few words of advice. Use a strong password that no one could guess. Password should contain mixtures of letter (upper case and lower case), numbers, and symbols. Make sure there is no pattern to the passwords you use such as passwordDP, passwordPayPal, ...Never use the same password on any two accounts. Never let any user log into your account. That is asking for trouble. Do not use throw away email addresses. Many MSN emails have been recently hacked. Be extremely careful if loggin in from libraries, cyber-cafes, school labs. There is a much greater likelyhood of account compromise. If you login from public access computer be sure to clear history, cookies, ... Be careful of what you download. Many freebies contain trojans.

Yeah it can be but i think if you use some precautions than chances will become very less like do not login from unsecure or common computer and one of the major thing never use common passwords and do not include your name and date of birth etc common things hope it will never happen to any one of us .

Other than using strong passwords, best advice will be to keep your PC protected with good antivirus.no matter how strong password u have,if trojan is installed on ur system,ur password will be leaked,so use some antivirus software.

They can't hack vBulletin, from my opinion anyway, I believe it's very hard to hack vB.

But if passwords / emails are floating around of course.

Yes you are right, if someone installed KeyLoggers then it can be danger for us he can stole all passwords. I have safe option of Wand in Opera so atleast it reduce the chance of password leaking.
