Forum PR, Is it a factor for marketing?

For every forum that allows signatures PR could be an important factor getting new members. Since lot of people would be interested getting a free link from high PR sites.

    Your opinion?

By allowing signature links you also get more spam comments. Depending on your business model you may not care. If you're just selling ads and want as many eyes on your pages as possible then you probably don't care. However, if you're trying to build a community then you probably don't want to allow signature links.

I don't think you should use "Our signatures pass PR" as a selling point. You'll end up with a bunch of spammers/marketers.

Just make a worthwhile forum and the people will show up on their own.

I think it also depends on what you are trying to market...

Don't use that as your selling point. You'll just attract spammers instead. Perhaps, using your traffic as your selling point might be better.

I just got a PR4, thought that would help attracting new members. Although spammers would be interested, there are good people who like to build links contributing to the forum.

But I agree, may be I should not use that as a marketing point.
