I am a IT service provide and very soon i am going to lunch a website related to our service. I would like to know which is better for me ORG or COM. Thanks in advance for your comments and suggestions..... Regards A1Seller
I think .com is better than .org ... it's more commonly known & if people know the name of a website, but don't know the extension. I think they are most likely to try .com first!
.COM is king when it comes to extensions. You can use whatever extension you feel like but .COM would be your best bet.
.ORG = Organization .COM = Commercial .COM is more used than .ORG. More people know .com, when people say "go to this site..", other people usually think a .com as a first instinct. If you plan on opening a big website then I would suggest getting both .org and .com.
Yes forgot to mention that... nothing wrong with getting both extensions.. I have done this a few times just to wean out anyone else from trying to register it.
Get all 3, com, net , org. promote the com. Network with net Org was reserved for groups like non-profit when the com and net idea came about. I have a public awareness site and I choose the .org
people mainly prefer .com first and they look for others.it is better that you provide atleast 3-4 extensions
both are the same in a seo perspective. It entirely depends which one you are actually giving your energy for to develop.
Com is king for 99.9% of domains. However, if you have a charity group or an organization site or something to that extent, .org is better.
it is all about the first impression you give to the customer or person you are trying to attract to your site. most people who do not know anything about the internet associate .org sites with schools, charities, or other similar organizations. whether this is right or wrong is irrelevant. it just is the way people have been conditioned to think. A .com extension site is always going to be more desirably and valuable for a business to use. It also lends a professionalism and legitimacy that the common person will be expecting and looking for.
In the past when the .COM and the .ORG TLD were first released, there was a distinction as only non-profit organization can use the .org and all others can opt for the .com but that changed. Now from the NIC point of view, there is no longer any restriction. As for the SEO purposes, it makes no difference what TLD you use as long as you use them. However, I believe on a personal note, more people are more used to the .com .
Great idea. .com is still the leader. If you have the option to register a .com, always go for it, regardless of whatever else you might register. If you ignore the .com: 1) You will be losing a certain percentage of visitors who do not remember that your site is NOT a .com. I believe that the general mentality of web users is still that a website ends in ".com" Visitors trying to find you will end up elsewhere. 2) Someone else will eventually register it. .
I'd say .com as well. .Org's tend to be for charities and non-profit organisations. .Com's carry more weight and is usually what people will guess if they don't know your domain.
As many have stated, .com is the king, but both extensions are good. .org is typically used for non-profit organizations.
.org is growing by leaps & bounds in the aftermarket. it is very trendy- coffee.org, ringtone.org etc. selling for $xxx, xxx to protect from lost traffic it is great to have .com/.net as well. .org rules are relaxed and the registry is doing well, so i would not rule it out for a potentially successful brand strategy.
