Content is King? Links vs. Content

I don't hear much about content anymore, or perhaps it is because I wake up every morning with links on my mind. I go to sleep thinking about them too. Anyway I have an e-commerce site and want to optimize the site and am adding content - articles - on two locations on the site. Both are article pages with multiple articles on various subject related to my site.

I also add articles to article submission sites like ezine, goarticles, associated content while adding my "best" articles to the site. I have two blogs, one a google blogspot that is no follow I believe and another one with its own domain.

What amount of content should I have on my site? I know there is no "rule" but since my content per page is likely 60 words max with between one to six images how much does it affect my serp ranking when individual pages are so lacking in content like virtually all other e-commerce sites? Should I focus on links as I am presently or adding content to two pages? I have added more content to individual pages but it is kinda forced as you can't really say too much about one lingerie item and I don't know if that would add much to the visitors experience or googles view of the page.

Content is not dead as blogs are virtually nothing but content, but what about us e-commerce guys?

Yes content is king but you need to get your content high in the search engines to get visitors free from the search engines

In the search engine optimization world, it is backlinks that really matter. But again on page seo has a role to play
Also i suppose if you do not have good content on your pages, the visitors will come, and then leave quickly:p

Applying seo tactics to e-commerce with back links is a lot of work but I am clear that the higher pr the links to my site, the better. The more high pr links related to my site, the better. I am by means nowhere near an expert on that but I am comfortable as to what I need to continue to do with gaining links.

That said content on an e-commerce site with 5,600 pages is "possibly" different than a blog with 400 pages. New products come out at least once a year, often two or three times. The end consumer is interested in the benefits and features of say a corset, but I have my doubts that writing 2-3 paragraphs on each product is a good idea, if it is even possible from a time standpoint.

Most of my high ranking competitors have a 1. article page, 2. story page about romance....3. romance books they have reviewed. 4. How to articles...... This is their attempt at "content"

Just add the content as you see fit, get links going back to not only your main page, but inner pages as well such as categories, the articles, and any other page of your site all linking with different anchor text for the best effect.

My advice for building any site to gain SERPs - create the quality content first - then create the quality backlinks. SEO is a lot easier that way.

    Yes, content is important,

    But,

A lot of people seem to be under the impression that writing the modern day works of Shakespeare and putting it on a website will atomatically get them #1 rankings. - It doesn't work like that. Google don't have a magic algorithm that can tell how 'good' content is.

Google rely on people linking to good content, the more people link to something then theoretically the better it is. Sadly the best content doesn't always get linked to, so that's where a good SEO comes in - to publicise great content and ensure it gets linked to.

IMO, you each page must have minimum of 150-200 words content with targeted keywords spread here and there naturally (NOT stuffed) Backlinking is important but not more than content. I'd say, a site with great content and no links has higher chances to come in SERPs but a site with NO content and good backlinks have comparatively lesser chances. I had an experience with one of my health site that had no backlinks but high quality info and content using keywords (No anchor text). And I wondered to see the site coming on first page for many keyword terms and searches.

Content MATTERS and it is definitely, KING. You must have relevant and quality backlinking though. It is 100% working combo.

    Cheers!

I think content is king!!! Google changes how they rank sites all of the time, however in the end the content will be the main thing.. The quality, the originality, and the amount, hand in hand, are all important.

posting an article is good for your blog and there are a specific number of words for creating an article and it should be 350 up to 450 words in one article, because robots love to crawl the text content and visitors also likes it when fresh, informative and effective as well as pictures and most specially videos.

I think they both are very important

    Imagine:
    Content is your hearth.
    Links are your blood.

See, what is the most important?

Content is key, once you get good content and even some basic numbers with visitors you will start to generate backward links from users who will link to your content, of course it has to be good. Once this happens things can start to move without a huge amount of backward link work, though you do need to do some to get started.
