I am interested in building a Forum/Bulletin Board style website in which I would be able to monetize after a few months and wanted to get some thoughts of DP members. That being said, if you could build only one website that would be your sole source of income what would it be about? And why? Please take into consideration that it would need to be a subject compatible with attracting forum users and can not be on illegal or pornographic subjects.
I'd build a blog. It really depends on the person. I'm pretty good with blogs, so thats my line. But there are people good with forums and others good with content websites. It's all up to you. But then again, this situation will never happen
I know a guy who owns 2 websites . One for republican part one for democrat party . Both with forums and all the bells and whistles . He makes 100k a year just from those 2 websites . I make about 4k a month selling traffic on ebay (most of that is from repeat buyerss). (recently moved to a website) So if my website does half as good as my ebay auctions I would be happy .
I've started with my site thats a blog a year ago and i'm earning quite good. I'm selling my software and getting ok income from the ads.

If the internet gods said that you could only have one website forever and it could be about only one topic what would it be about? Remember that this website is going to be your sole source of income so you have to choose a topic that is both in demand and can be monetized.
I don't think people would post their ideas here so that other people can take it away from them. Infact I've got several ideas that i'm working on right now that involves creating communites (yes it has been done by others but my idea is fresh and as far as i know it hasn't been done yet) and once my proof of concept is coded i'm testing it and see the responses from people.
It is useless to expect genuine answer here. That being said I will think that you should see what you are good at and start working on it.
