I want to promote a directory on a specific industry

    I have a directory which lists the sites of a specific directory. It also runs classified ads on the site. Can anyone guide me what steps can I take to increase traffic for the site? It already has good rankings in Google for some of its pages. All i need is to increase quality traffic to the site.

    In my honest opinion - there's no point in hunting for traffic from Social Bookmarking for a directory - it'll very rarely convert to a sale - instead, use directory submission, social bookmarking and social sites as ways to gain backlinks - which in turn will help you increase in the search engine rankings and therefore - increase traffic/sales.
