Google will not only dominate the internet. They have questionable plans for the future.

Th word google now means search. Like we say hoover instead of vacume cleaner. If it was marketing, it worked.

Well based on their progress and the rate on how they acquire companies, you can say that they will one day control practically everything. That's why Microsoft got so alarmed about this....

Google is a great company but there is a lot of room for growth for them. However, I don't think it is possible for one company to rule the internet. There will always be a competitor.

Google already rules the internet...Try crossing them and they will either buy you or make a produt similar to your own and beat you.

They can do anything.....anything...they are the gods of the internet.

Google? Ruling the internet? It seems very likely.

The larger Google gets, the harder it is for other businesses to compete with it. When other businesses try to compete, Google swallows them up and end up owning them.

I wonder if Google will receive any antitrust suits against it....

Don't they already own it ??? :) At their pace, they are definitely on their way. I believe someone already compared them to microsoft in the software business... Exact same thing in my opinion!

Google might be what IBM & Microsoft once were. When the right 900# gorilla comes along, Google, too, will fade.

I don't think it will fade, but it might not be as big and as powerfull. Microsoft from 2001 is not the same company as 2008. Specially because of the Vista release.

I don't agree with that. So okay, Google has grown to a large proportion. But the internet was in its first boom before Google's little search box started showing up everywhere. Life before google, was a different internet, but there were search engines. There were payment gateways. There were link exchanges, banner exchanges, and seo. There was life before Google.

They already rule the internet. They make and break anybodys sites they want to everyday. If the want to break your site they can drop you from their index, If they want to make your site the can move you to number one.

    That's called ruling the internet.
