Google buys Digg?

The statistics info a social bookmarking site such as Digg will provide to Google is precious, worth more than 200 mil if you think long term. Also, it's a great step on the way to domination of the internet.

 

yep,they will do anything to stay in the game.200 mil is hardly investment to them

 

Who knows. Although Digg may not generate a huge amount in terms of profit, it certainly attracts a huge number of visitors. Putting a price on traffic is often harder than just basing it purely on profitablility as it depends on who the buyer is and what they plan to use it for.

 

I don't get the idea, why google want to buy digg, what for?

$200 million is a rip off anyway for Kevin Rose to sell it for.

I've seen sites crappier sell for a lot more. For example, Myspace.

 

Digg is worth alot IMO,it can definatily cost google alot of money,but in the end its worth it,

 

I hope Google does not buy Digg! They have to answer to their major shareholders. Digg has to answer to their users.

Now that Google has also lauched their own Wukupedia. I hope that the internet does not turn into print news and tv, when a handfull of companies controle everything.

Already 6 companies controle 80% the top 25 websites in the US!

I know you need to get the best deal for your product, but if I were DIGG, I'd sell withough haggling and whilst I am enjoying my pina colada in the Caribbean with a supermodel kissing my neck, I can read the bloggers tellling me how dumb I am to sell for only 200 million.

 

yahoo to del.icio.us and Google to Digg.. i think Digg is one of the most popular Social bookmarking sites.. google acquisition to digg will be good..

 

I do hope google buys digg. Google will sure make the system works much better and most important, it will make it fair.(hope so)

 

Looks like Google backed out of the deal to buy digg. Maybe Microsoft will swoop in and snatch it up now.

 

digg is much more than that price and i think this news is nothing but just the rumours.

 

I agree, Digg was great a year ago, I wouldn't say its worth much now.

 

Youtube makes absolutely no profit, but Google still acquired it for 1.6 billion. Same thing goes for Digg.

 

Maybe digg doesnt make some profit - so google got the power to one of the most popular systems on the internet and with that much unique hits per day, google can earn money by using adsense on the page. They are not silly - the have a plan: ruling the i-net
