Hi, I live in the UK and would like to promote UK only products and services using Web 2.0 sites such as Squidoo, Facebook, MySpace, Delicious, Twitter, etc. The problem is that these sites don't show up in Google.co.uk if you choose to search "pages from the UK". There is a uk.myspace.com which shows up, but that's all I could find. Does anyone have any advice for web 2.0/social media marketing within the UK? Thanks, Joe
Joe, I think most of the big social places are international, everyone is at .com, not separate country codes. check out: http://www.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=InternationalMap "Note: MySpace is a worldwide community. Your choice will not prevent you from making friends and viewing content from users in other countries."
It can be tricky. I have a couple lenses that are very UK centric, and I actually do get the most traffic from the UK (stats from www.StatCounter.com). I managed this by making sure that the word "UK" featured in the title, in the tags and content, and I linked to other UK websites. Google is so good at showing localised results, I don't think many people choose the option to "search UK only" any more... You can use Amazon aStore that are exclusively UK. I've had some success with that.
Similar to pixelad, I'm also in the UK, and all the web 2.0 sites I've used have been effective. Joe, I have sent you a PM which I hope will help further.
