A lot is said about quality links. Beyond link exchange and blog, directories, forums and articles - how does one get a high ranked website to send a valuable backlink to your site?
I've had good success attracting high PR and respected links by writing content that is important to my niche. Then contacting other webmasters in my niche or a sub niche and telling them why my site would be valuable to their visitors.
Like has been said before, if you create great content the links will come. When you make a site with something really valuable, funny, usefull or has a "wow" factor, people will link to you without being asked. Create really good content, link to it, bookmark it, submit it to Digg and Stumbleupon and if it's really good people will notice. Email a link to some relevant blogs and if they like it then you'll get linked.
Content is the major factor. You need to have an amazing content to get a high quality backlink. However, before that, you still need to build up your PR through link exchange, blog coment, directories, forums and articles
And remember duplicating other sites is not good content. Most people you ask to link your website will do a few searches to verify if it is duped!
Yup, my blog is new and I realize it is really difficult to get high quality inbound links, no matter how good the content. Link exchange and comments are the next best options for me now.
