do you guys know why http://www.directory-owners.com doen't accept registration.
I read a couple of good post over there.. then suddenly it says that i need to register to view more.. but then it says registration is closed by the admins.
What's up with that? are they tight on bandwidth or something?

No, they are not tight on bandwidth. :) It is a forum modification to prompt lurkers to become members. Just signup and that nag screen will not appear when you sign in.

Don't waste you time joining. You will get rude mail from the owner as many have experience. From my experience there and the way the owner came across - a total loser who now hates the directory industry.

isn't it a little counter intuitive for someone that hates the directory industry to open a forum for directory owner..:D
oh well.. i reason i sort of want to join is because there seem to be a more active non-phpld crowd there..
people here mostly are phpld owner/supporter with a few notable exception...

That forum is at least a year old, probably closer to 2. It went through at least two different owners. It started with the best of intentions to become a conflict-free and helpful forum. Over time it kinda degraded into a place to spam new directory announcements and the conversations simply faded. The owner(s) tried to move directories forward and get people focusing on quality. Just like around here, few listened. There was at one time a letter posted on the site by the owner that obviously was born out of great frustration. I'm not surprised that registration is closed, but am surprised the forum's still online at all based on the content of that letter.

Not sure what you mean. I think he had sold/disbanded his directory(s) before the PR smackdown.

I posted an inquiry on their forum and the reply was that the new user registration is/has been disabled for some time now. Looks like there's no plans on enabling it in the near future.
