Does plain text link (without <a href=""> tag) count as a backlink?

    if the site automatically parses the link, yes if the link is clickable, right click the page and view the source, you'll see the a href tag automatically attached, without it, it wont be be an executable link.

    If it's not a link it won't be crawled and won't count.
    http ://www.mysite. com isn't a link but <a href="http://www.mysite. com"> is.
