The domains facebook and myspace are trademarked, this means that they are the intellectual property of a company (aka facebook.com and myspace.com respectively).

Many people will be cautious about purchasing these domains since they can be taken away at almost anytime by the company.

They had their chance to buy those names thats why when the .ME TLD came it was in an intrim for like a month for all trademark owners to purchase or join the auction. They lost

You can read more about this on the official .ME TLD site at http://www.domain.me/index.php?page=15
    I won it now.

As long as you make it into a website that has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with Myspace then you would be ok.

Dude, we can see that you are too new in this industry. Take my advice:

    1) Dig more on this by using a search column up there.
    2) As a newbie, always read on how to sell a domain. Check the thread for this discussion.
    3) Whenever other members give you any feedback, please take it as a new thing (knowledge). We just want to help. "Trademark" domain is not a normal domain. Just remember that.

Hope my tips will help you to do more business here in DP forum. Happy selling! :)

You don't even own any of these .me names. They are all scheduled for auction at auctions.domain.me except for why.me, which is on auction like jasonsc just said.

This is not the appropriate place to discuss trademark issues, in any case I have 1 or 2 things I need to say regarding these, specially for newbies considering the investment.

true.me can't be trademarked, because true is a commonly used dictionary word. As long as you develop it in a non competitive way you're safe.

myspace, mapquest and facebook are obviously infringing trademark policies, so if any of the owners claims it you'll be in serious trouble. (just check http://www.wipo.int/portal/index.html.en and it's previous decisions... 10 out of 10 were won by the "trademarkers"...

You just mustn't own those domains, no matter what arguments you present to us, that is what a trademark is, they don't have to reg every single extension for their domains as they already own the name, understand?

Well, I leave you with a few links just in case...

    http://tess2.uspto.gov/bin/showfield?f=doc&state=i6h7l3.2.1
    http://tess2.uspto.gov/bin/showfield?f=doc&state=i6h7l3.3.7
    http://tess2.uspto.gov/bin/showfield?f=doc&state=i6h7l3.4.4

The guys at Mapquest even trademarked the font type (stylized form), so do you really think they're playing with it?

    ;)

classmates is a commonly used dictionary word but is trademarked by classmates.com. :) They sent a letter to a owner of a site that was using a domain name with the word classmates in it. The owner was forced to take the site down. Just my two cents.

Only one of the auctions has started, the why.me one. None of the other auctions have even started yet. You can't be projected to win an auction, as anyone can make a bid at any time. You can't sell what you don't own.
