Make sure you can ads the validated before you pay

I donated 5 run of site links on a pr 6 site with 30,000 pages to the coop

because some egghead won't allow the site to be accessed by unkown agents

I'm not sure how this is different than selling weight.
    So, It's ok to say...
I have a site that will be worth 40,000 in weight, anyone what to buy the right to put the adnetwork code on it and register the site yourself?
    but it's not ok...
to allow someone to use my 40,000 in weight in my account in exchange for money? I'm a little confused, am I missing something? To me that is a slight variation in method to get the same result.

One targets network sites, the other brings new sites into the network.

What if the site selling the ad space is already on the network? Noone said anything about new sites.

posted this on another related thread but..

I don't see the difference between:
weight buyer buying sitewide links on a site from webmaster to put the ad network on,
and webmaster putting the code on the site himself and selling the resulting weight to weight buyer

The end result is identical. Webmaster gets $x and weight buyer gets X weight.

To be honest, it's the same thing in my view, and no, the network is not hurt by this at all. The process of inclusion is identical, it just happens at different stages.

It doesn't neccessarily bring new sites to the network either (because I may feature only 3 ads on my site, and sell 2 ads sitewide.. which is just another way of saying X weight.)

At the end of the day, it can't be policed either, because anyone can run ads for anyone (within editorial limits of course). How the agreement is reached is up to the individuals concerned.

With this said, there may actually be some sort of logic to it that I'm unaware of (management overhead for example - and I'd understand that too).

Anyway.. there's a point to all this. As some of you may know, I'm working on a beta network of my own over at nichedynamics dot com, and I do plan to support the transfer of arbitrary points or 'weight' between accounts if it's something that ppl really want to see. I've set up a poll for ppl to vote, and everyone is welcome to discuss the issue in the forum if they like.

Just a side note that I think is appropriate at this point. ND was set up originally to compliment the DP network. That is, to fill the gaps, or provide features that DP wasn't providing. It's important to note that that remains my objective, even with the arrival of new DP features (thematic data gathering) and the newly formed TOS which (because of the network exclusion clause) now encourages direct competition.

I encourage anyone interested in the NDTLN to view it accordingly.

    Cheers,

    JL
