The Huge Benefits Of Updated Content For Yahoo

I have a particular Squidoo lens currently ranking on the first page for many competitive terms, such as top 2008 movies which has 1.5 billion results (without quotes)
Anyway, I am showing you with this lens just how big the benefits of regularly updated content is.
A few weeks after I update the lens, it starts to become old - this lens basically drops off all rankings in yahoo whatsoever.
I will then edit my lens, just a few words, so long as it is being edited. Within 24-48 hours, this lens is dominating huge keywords in Yahoo.
It was never meant to act as an experiment, but this has happened so consistently to my lens. Currently I am sustaining its good rankings by keeping it fresh.
I am not adding any new content, simply modifying the old content

Anyway, the moral is that to rank well in Yahoo, update your content regularly.

Nice tip. Sometimes ranking in Yahoo is not an exact science but traffic is not bad and the quality of visitors even better.

    A question, please:

Are you doing anything extra for the Squidoo Lens, like for example
    * creating backlinks to it or
    * using Yahoo Answers or
    * using a very high keyword density?

It seems so simple this method that Yahoo could give so much weight to Squidoo.

    Thanks in advance.

Yahoo is dominated by heavily optimized spammy sites (onpage SEO) that never get updated.
To be honest I have never seen a squidoo lens in Yahoo :)

    In the past, me neither.

But was just checking and, yes, they are there.

Seems links from Squidoo to your site also help wonders to rank well in Yahoo so you have one more position on Y serp. Will try.

I agree updating content is important but 'constant' might be a bit much bearing in mind the regularity of searchbot visits. Lately we've been keeping a closer eye than usual on our logs and while crawls seem to have been more regular, weekly, minor updates to content is where we've settled.

Be interested to hear other's opinions on this.

-The only links to it are social bookmarks submitted months ago and one link in a squidoo directory a few months ago
-I am not using Yahoo Answers
-I think it is a reasonable keyword density.

I simply tweak a sentence or two, and bang, straight up the rankings it goes :)

Btw, do any of you want a free 1 way link from this Squidoo lens to ur site - the lens is PR2 and gets 60 uniques a day currently, it's niche is movies
Possibly u could link to me from a SEO site in return but it's OK if u dont

Reply here for the free link - I will give preference to those already posted here

I have a thing to ask. There are hundreds of sites that are not updating yet they rank very well. How do they do that? Not every site owner would want to keep adding more content only to end up having duplicate content in terms of meaning of the whole site. So how do you keep your ranking whilst not updating the content?

It doesn't rank if it hasn't been updated recently for my lens
All I was stating in this thread was a clear pattern I have seen emerge with one of my Squidoo lenses

Yahoo not only crazy about content almost every search engines are made after content and so there is idioms that "content is king".

updation in present content is also related to content yeh search engine can only see some thing is updating and that thing drawn them to believe that there is some thing new and they will check it out its duplication and if they will not found than they dont have any reason to drank it...

There is a separate thread of how Yahoo likes Squidoo lenses. It is a part answer to why your lense is so popular - not sure it works with our systems.
