I'm thinking to create a new partition where I will install Vista, but maybe my PC will be to weak ( 1 GB RAM, 160 GB HDD + 250 GB External, AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 2 GHz... - but I will bux more RAM ( 2 GB or 4 GB ) and I will overclock my processor at least on 2.5 GHz... ) is there a big difference from having OS Vista and from having only skin?
yeah about that.... how much hardware do you have on your comp? Im guessing its the minimum of 1GB ram, 1.4Ghz, etc...
I run vista in a virtual machine just for kicks and I don't understand why anyone would actually pay for it if they already have XP. I think most large companies agree with me.
Having compared Vista with XP, it's extra bulky needs 4 times the minuimum memory to probably work properly (1Gb isn't enough) and have no probs running XP on a 512Mb system! Plus Visa is so fiddley, slow and different from XP. According to Mr. Gates "640Kb is enough" perhaps he's requoted it to "640Kb was once enough!", and yes GUIs were perfectly possible to have in 640Kb with the creators of CP/M - "Digital Research Inc." setting the initial standards for GUIs to follow on IBM compatables with GEM, though falling to a stupid lawsuit from Apple Inc. which changed the feel of GEM and restricting it to program called Viewmax which was included with DR DOS 6.
vista uses more then 40% of our system resources.moreover it got plenty of issues for drivers.worst thing i can not use my tv cards with vista.vista really sucks
vista may be run faster on a mainframe.. i don't have i just have a 2.0due core with 2gbram and it's slow in there .
You are perfectly correct.. At times i cannot access my camera! But overall i liked XP But Vista is better!
Personally the compatibility issues when I first installed it. It was like running a Mac . Then updates came out and the vast array of software available to Windows users was once again (for the most part) available.
I still have compatablility issues with some games and programs in Vista. Also I don't like having to approve every action that is made every time I run the action. So I cut the admin verification off and with it off you still get the nasty little red shield saying your at risk. Also its much slower than XP even with 2 gig's of memory.
I don't hate it, the only thing that bothers me is with all the security messages when you install things and open some things.
Sometimes, I think that M$ is like an abuser in an abusive relationship. They think we can't leave because we depend on them, so they can do anything they want to us. And then, they try to make it seem like we're the ones with the problem. And when we start to leave, they apologize and get all nice again and promise to fix the problems and talk about being sensitive to customers needs etc. Bull. The "fixes" often actually make things more difficult. Guys, 70+% of vista users hate it on this poll ... that's got to tell you something.... we're in an abusive relationship with microsoft, and we won't leave. (No individual criticism implied or intended, I'm doing the same thing.) We gotta do something.

I guess the real issue here is people who don't understand something generally don't like it, may not necessarily apply to everyone though I'm perhaps in the group of people who say "Why did Microsoft do this?" or "Have that", it's the same old drag regardless of the Operating System it's been going on since CP/M, and CP/M got it's fair share of it too when it was popular which resulted in many offset programs or alternative Operating Systems (compatable with CP/M programs), to make CP/M friendlier or easier to use. Sometimes I wonder if it's the 3rd party software which is sometimes doing more harm than good - I seem to cringe everytime I'm installing something new, cause I'm not sure what'll happen and if it works properly. Back in the good ol' days this was called Debugging a program, though with so many Hardware devices floating around, debugging a program mean's passing your software to as many people as possible just to make sure "it works!", and then some programs are simply older than the hardware which makes it very difficult to Debug a program nowadays! So it's not always Microsoft's fault!!
Because it is a failure on many levels. It eats up more resources than ever (by far), it has many bugs, it has many services that are out of wack, many software appliations don't seem to work correctly, etc. etc. etc. http://vistanotgood.com/ And there are so many different versions and the versions that have the most stuff is wayyyyyyyy to expensive. It is not easy to upgrade from XP to Vista. Usually, one has to reinstall Vista from the ground up instead of upgrading and keeping all your settings.
i really have nothing against Vista, it looks are pretty but why should i upgrade if XP has everything i need?
Its 2008 why don't you have a good computer then It all runs fin unless you use win98 stuff Runs games better and with higher quality then xp ever will So, Vista Rules =]
I have a similar configuration, but it's the same as XP, really. After a while, everything just slows down... Windows Vista looks nice, has a few new features, but it's a raging fire burning a hole in my pocket. I would go back to XP, but i've installed Vista now and got used to it, so going back would just confuse me more. Any programs I need to run on XP, I run on an old Compaq PIII 600 or something. Windows Vista networking works. Sometimes. IE7 is horrible. IE8 is just as bad, if not, worse. IE6 is shitty, too. Safari and Firefox are both good. I would buy a mac, but I have no money left. Vista Sucks. Lots.
