Sedo Prices

Discussion in 'Domain Names' started by pn21, Jul 17, 2008.

Hi! I parked my domains on Sedo and in their price list if the domain name is sold they will get "10% of the sales price [minimum 50€ / 35£ / 50$]".

I wonder if I understood this rule right? For example; if one of my domain names is sold for 60$, does it mean that they will get 50$ of 60$ and pay me 10$? It is ridiculous.

And if it is sold for 500$, they will get 50$ as 10% of sale price and pay me 450$. It is understandable.

Then you have nothing earned if the price is low. The earner is just Sedo.

    Yes, it is crazy.

If you're domain sells for $60 they will pay you $10

Sedo's comission is $50 or 10% (whichever is more).

    Hope that helps!

I would just try to sell it on my own. It's not worth it selling through Sedo unless you have a really popular domain name.

There are several different fee structures with Sedo.
I think that is only if you sell a domain name that is listed with them but not parked with them.
With a parked domain, the fee is 10% ...period.
(As far as I remember...I might be wrong)

In this link there is the pricelist of Sedo.

    http://www.sedo.com/services/prices.php3?tracked=&partnerid=&language=e

"Park your domain with Sedo and pay no minimum commission fee with almost all TLDs for members in most countries!" is written in this page but if someone, who sold a domain name parked at Sedo before, tell us how the system works, I will be sure about the parking discount.

    Sedo's 10% rate
No minimum fee if the domain is parked with Sedo; only the flat 10% rate applies.

Sedo's 10% is low compared to afternics' 20% (on premium listing) which should give the seller atleast 8 or more sites to list their domain (includes Buydomains.com, I think godaddy lists out it too)

If you're selling and have a fairly good name.. ask around first... you might know someone that'll want to buy it... but make sure to use an intermediary like GoDaddy.com or one of the other certified ones so when it comes time to transfer you actually are paid and not scammed.. they charge fees for convenience.. its better than selling on eBay and hoping the peep that paid through paypal doesn't request a refund after they have your domain!! 0_o

Yes, I thought that was what their terms said.
(It's been a while since I focussed any attention there).

So OP, if you want to list a domain for sale on SEDO, or if someone contacts
you wanting to purchase a domain, just make sure to park it before offers are submitted.

    * The 10% includes escrow services, I believe.
So when you look at it that way, it is fairly competitive

Think about it: They give you users which will buy your domains, and you wouldn't sell it that easy without them.
Afaik in this 10% there is also an escrow service included
