I have about 6 websites that I lanuched about 3 years ago. All of them had a page rank of 3 for about the 1st two years. I did not spend much time updateding these site (no new content in 2 years). Now all have a page rank of zero. I am assuming this happen b/c of no new content and no marketing efforts on my part. But I also used these sites to try differnt seo and marketing techniques so gray in nature. 1.) My question is can I check and see if these were banded by google? 2.) Is it worth trying to bring these sites back with new content and hard work b/c the domain age is 3 years or should I just start them a new with new url's? Thanks for the help
just try to type "site:yourdomain.com" and see if there are any result. if no result probably it got banned or maybe sandboxed. "Is it worth trying to bring these sites back with new content and hard work b/c the domain age is 3 years or should I just start them a new with new url's?" old domain ofcourse got more advantages than new domain (except you got banned) maybe they lost their PR because they lost the backlinks or those back links were devalued. if your sites havent been banned, i would suggest you to rebuild/improve your old sites.
No but I did lose a bunch of links and I was doing some gray seo stuff like linking to sites from a small link network I had created.
I did the site:yourdomian.com and almost all of the pages in the site are in the results. Does that just mean they lost the PR? Thanks
Start your work on the same domain. It is old and you will get more advantage than the new domain. Update your website weekly. Efforts hard for back links. You will definately get page rank and more traffic.
Hello It is not new. google PR is not stable. It is always varies. So don't worry. It is not impossible or your site to increase the pr, You just keep on your SEO exercise. Your PR will be increased.
Hi, some changes on content and most important thing is back links so collect some high pr back links.
Most important thing is updating keep update your website and yes get quality back link from relevant sites
Keep getting fresh new links all the time if possible. Don't get beaten out of shape over PR its the SERPS that matters
its just happen that your website is one of those affected when google did their updates and its not penalized or banned by google, as you mention you didn't do anything for a long time! Yes updating your website is an advantage and one of things that attract robots.
Changing url's would not be advisable as you would loose the domain age weight. Have you lost any traffic. If not then I don't thing you need worry a lot about PR. PR does not equate to traffic anyways. With regards to content, ask anyone and they would tell you that content is king. But you cannot keep the same content forever. Search engine crawlers like fresh content so get on with it.
