What's The Best SEO Book Out There?

Discussion in 'Search Engine Optimization' started by AllproJJ, Jul 17, 2008.

Okay, I'm really trying to learn the full scope of SEO. I was thinking about going to Barnes and Noble or Borders today and seeing what they have. Is there a particular book on SEO that is better then the rest?

I'm not talking ebooks, I mean literal books.

    Thanks,
    Jay

I found your best guide is learning as you go and hang out where other webmasters do. Books are often over hyped and outdated. JMO

Reading quailty SEO blogs will also be a better guide.

All seo books that I have seen, were just about the basics (add to it that some were old already, and some had some wrong info too).
Something to pick if you are a webmaster encountering seo and sem for the first time.
I didn't see a good printed advanced seo book yet. But would be nice to see any recommendation, if such book exists.

You might also want to check out the other SEO related forums which also have useful information. Try and subscribe to many SEO newsletters as possible, the more knowledge you have, the better.

I've found that there arent many SEO books out there that are up to date. As the posts mentioned above, just go online.

    Thanks & good luck

Dude when it comes to SEO you don't want to be getting a hardcover book. Read this forum and SEO blogs to keep up to date.

Well there was a book once called SEOBOOk written by aaron wall (seobook.com). But he has stopped selling that and changed the whole business model. So you can sign up to his training program for $100/month. After you sign-up you might ask aaron to give you a copy of the book (I'm not sure whether its included with the training program or not).

But honestly SEOBOOK is the best book on SEO that I have ever came across. There are some other paid content at SEOMOZ.org as well which are equally good.

But before you start spending money, I suggest you to start reading some of the popular SEO/SEM blogs:

    SearchEngineJournal
    SEObook
    SEOmoz
    SearchEngineLand
    SEroundtable

Go through their archives and you will learn a gr8 deal.

I would suggest not wasting your money buying a hard back book which probably only covers the basics and instead read the forums, the free eBooks you can get on the internet (I have two coming out next week) and going on the sites listed up to now, and mine, sorry had to add it :D

Mine is in my recent blog spot but there are tons more. A quick search of google will result in many. You just have to read through them and weed out the bad information. If it sounds like BS, it most likely is.
