I'm really tired of the media trying to make the war look better than it is by dressing up words to suit the occasion.

    It's a retreat - get over it.

U.S. forces in Afghanistan currently operate under so-called "hot pursuit" rules, which allow them to bomb or shell insurgents firing at them from across the border.

But now the U.S. military is working on plans to cross the border, not just in hot pursuit, but to clear out the safe havens in Pakistan.

Looks Like we will be in Pakistan next.

The troops abandoned the outpost because it was too small and exposed. The militants retreated into the mountains after they were repelled by US and Afghan troops.

There is no shame doing a retreat, tactical or otherwise. You live to fight another day. This is not a One War decides all type of fighting. Abandoning an outpost that is too exposed and moving to better fortifications is a wise move.

"Tactical Retreat" means "They kicked our ass so we split!".

Nato forces are still patrolling the area but have withdrawn troops from outpost. The taliban have not taken the outpost nor do they have the strength to occupy it.

Read Art of war and other military strategy books. Tactical retreats can be effective. It's a military strategy and it may have been the right thing to do.

A small force of marines slugging it out with a larger terrorist force might be brave, but may not be a good military strategy.

It's very easy to launch suprise attacks on a small outpost on the Pakistani frontier. Certainly isn't going to win the war for either side.

Yup. The forces need to be concentrated where they can be most effective.

It's more important to win the big war than each small battle.

It's a lot more effective to use air mobile troops and helicopters in Afganistan.

Lightning quick strikes, go to inaccessible places and so on.

Enemies can still gun the damn helicopter down [Or better yet, rocket launchers]

The US is planning a TROOP SURGE in Afghanistan similiar to the successful TROOP SURGE in Iraq.

Don't bother, you will get a beat down with truth whether or not you have a retreat, tactical or not.

probably his usual religious bigotry crap he always post and call it truth.
last time he tried to "beat me down with truth" he was implying that all catholic priests are pedophiles and yet he claimed that he's not a bigot! :)
