Talk to myself? Never! You must be crazy However I have been known to sing show tunes to myself, and if I'm in a really REALLY good mood I might even sing them to others around me "With my freeze ray I will stop, the world"
I tend to talk to myself in the way that one plans to have a conversation. Like, lets say I'm about to talk to a friend about not sending me anymore text messages (because they cost me 0.10$!), then I would plan out and verbally talk the conversation that I will have with said friend. Weird, but effective. I also sing along to my music too.
I think it has something to do with us Celts and Gaelic cultures, history - I do it all the time, non stop, keeps for myself, the most wonderful company, peeling into laughter regularly as I have conversations with myself in the third person, I wouldn't worry about it, all of us Brits are totally batty, off the wall and completely eccentric to one degree or another, it's what makes us such an interesting nation overall. Anyway, you being a Scot, I'm tired of your company already, but at least I gave you more attention than a blinkin' bloomin' English Anglo Saxon - I'm back off to talk to myself again now, much more interesting than talking to you lot up north, upcountry.
There's no problem in talking to your ownself... I talk to myself too most of the time but I make sure that I'm the only one who hears me.
Self talk can get you through a situation and also help organize your thoughts as someone had mentioned in this thread. I guess care and caution should be exercised when you start habitually answering yourself. ...sip...
I don't sometimes i do but i try not to do it cuz i kinda relize it looks crazy if someone sees you. No offense though.
I don't talk to myself but I do lipsync what I'm thinking some times. Usually when I'm trying to remember a conversation or thinking of a way to state something.
