    Can anyone tell me the concept of blogger.com or a blog?

    I just know a blog is a online diary of ours that everyone can see.

    But i dont understand how it get famous. There is no linking from the home page of blogger or a search(Other than google blog search). But i still hear many saying about blog. Anyone please tell me.

    Also please say some of the greatest blogs in the web.

    It is mostly matter of marketing and 'the product' you have to give/sell to your audience (or potential audience). You need to have something (to say) that people will be interested with.

    Many people asking for this same, theory is quite simple, but in real there is heavy work to do.

    Years ago the concept of blogging was rather unheard of or I would say unpopular. But these days, it's catching up pretty fast and we can see that people now prefer to use blogs rather than just create a website itself. Blogs have many advantages in that, the contents can be regularly updated without the need to concern about other aspects like designing which can be kept to the minimum. Blogs are also a way to express the desire and ensure that site owners can easily keep in touch with the visitors.

    Actually it depends upon what are you giving to the user.if your purpose is to get business from your website or your blogs you can't run for a long time over the internet. As i think first of all you should have to be conscious about giving information to the users.

    as far as big blog big players like blogger, rediff blog etc is concerned it has already get promoted by the good websites, paid advertisement, email marketing. Lot of effort required to get your blog popularity.

    as fadetoblack22 said You need to get lots of backlinks. yes correct but it is part of blog marketing.

    I view blogs in two different ways:

    1. Telling everyone your personal thoughts like a journal
    and
    2. Using the platform as a way to drive business (like we do) or make money. So many different kinds of websites have blogs. Some blogs tell you the news, some give you product reviews, and a lot give advice. It doesn't end there though.

    I seems to me that every popular website today is a blog. It's just a really neat platform that people like to read for some reason.

    If you create a blog with content people want to SEE, you will get success.

    Once you have some good articles on your blog, slowly you will receive more readers.
