Hi there i have followed an example from: http://www.tools.dynamicdrive.com/password/ I would now like to create a .htpasswd file. However i was not able to on my computer as my windows xp does not allow a (.) to be at the front of the file name. I have searched the internet and i have only found generators that create the password for you, however i am after the file itself. If somebody has this already could you kindly forward me it or advise me further. Many thanks.
i have yesterday the same proablem .. if u have a webserver .. and have a program to upload files like winscp2 is simple .. just connect to your site .. create the file "htpasswd.txt" file on your windows machine .. upload to root folder on your server then select on your server the file "htpasswd.txt" and press F2 on winscp only and rename that file to .htpasswd and then copy these file to your windows machine .. (and erase the .htpasswd from your server because now it is a blank file) it works 100 % !

hello, If you are using cpanel, then its really simple instead of using external script just go in ur cpanel and select the option protect directory and there you go !
