Then it is true.. Do you thnk people go by what the PR might be internally? No they go be what is says on the tool bar. He said : Generally has page rank zero... he didnt say has no pr and then you state: It may be a PR<1 (shows as a 0 in the toolbar) Is there a difference from zero and #0?

Actually there can be a difference between N/A and 0. N/A can mean that it is too new or that it may have been de-indexed.

There are, but every one I have found is usually our of date, does not work properly or does not have that many real engines - that is why I created this list.

Thanks everyone else for the positive feedback!

Just found another one (Knoole) and added it to the list - that is a total of 88 engines you can submit to for free!!!!

These are ALL search engines, not directories and I believe that this is currently the single largest, up-to-date list of free search engine submission pages!

If you find one to be broken and/or you see that I missed one (only search engines, not directories please) please PM me the information and I will update the list.

I appreciate all the support and kind comments on the blog and within the thread and will continue to work and find even more search engines to submit to...:)

Until the next updates (hopefully soon) - Happy Submitting!

Kudos to you for all the hard work you have put into this effort.

But IMHO, all that a site needs really is good quality backlinks preferably deep into the site to get crawled frequently and get more pages indexed

    Thanks for your efforts though.

healthdirectorymoz - thank you for your kind words as it is a lot of hard work.

I agree with your opinion on backlinks, especially deep links. This process just started out as a list of second and third tier engines that would probably never find most sites as their indexes are so small (the big ones will find you on their own, but I ended up adding them as people kept mentioning to me that they were not listed). While they may not drive much traffic, the thought was the more engines you are indexed in, even very small ones the better chance you have at grabbing more traffic even if it is very small compared to what the large engines provide.

    Happy submitting!

Actually Dogpile and many other meta search engines (like Info.com) are great, but they pull data from other engines and don't usually have their own index. So, when you submit to these other engines (in the list) you will have the potential to be included in the hundreds and hundreds of meta engines.

    Hope that helps...:)

Not yet - can you? Or anyone else out there? That is a great idea, just need to make sure we can keep updating it as new engines come along and older ones disappear (like WiseNut).

You are correct that Google and Yahoo have a large portion of the market, but there are still thousands and thousands (possibly hundreds of thousands) of searches that are done that start at a smaller search engine. By making sure you are indexed in these engines you have a chance at some of this traffic. While it is small compared to the big engines, it only takes a few moments to submit your site and the idea is that these engines will then provide some traffic over a long period of time.

Small investment of time - Small returns, but over a LONG period.

I do not mind if you use the list, but would you mind at least providing a link back to my blog for credit (and updates) as I have worked very hard on this list?

TYGO appears to charge for a submission. All of the engines I have listed offer FREE submissions. Thanks for the feedback and possible site to include.

    Sorry for the silly question...

Is it really worth to submit my site to all these search engines?? OR its worth to submit to web directories??

    waiting for reply...

Directories are better for backlinks which will help your rankings within the search engines, but you need to be indexed before you can rank (the major engines will probably be able to find you on their own, it is the smaller engines that may not)
