Coca-Cola, Coca-Cola, Coca-Cola is a brand that is recognized from the most remote places in Africa to the most far and away towns of Alaska, why? because Coca-Cola advertises their product in every city, every country every chance they get, there is the Coca-Cola wave. as a result Coca-Cola is one of the best selling carbonated drinks worldwide. when you go to the supermarket to stock up on groceries, odds are that if you are in need of a refreshing carbonated soft drink, you will most likely grab a Coca-Cola bottle. But does it mean that you just finished seeing a Coca-Cola commercial prior to heading to the supermarket or heard an ad on the radio? NO! It means the Coca-Cola marketing/advertising departments have done their job and made a billion impressions on your mind, and that you are now familiar with the brand even if you decide on pepsi, you are still aware coke exist and are now a POTENTIAL CUSTOMER. being a POTENTIAL CUSTOMER is what it's all about. This is were the Google scam comes in, while an advertiser using the Adwords system is penalized for bidding too low for certain keywords, a publisher is penalized for not converting the traffic/potential customer, so Google through their various paid employees and Google apologists in webmaster forums have floated around this idea of "smart pricing". Which implies that now it is not only enough to get the ADWORDS MERCHANT a potential customer and make an impression on the POTENTIAL CUSTOMER, but you will now be penalized for getting or exposing a POTENTIAL CUSTOMER that was not in the market for "flat screen tv's" today, although he may be in the market for flat screens tomorrow, and go back to his net history and check on those flat screens he saw at a good price when he clicked on the ad that appeared on your site while he visited your site yesterday, well no matter cause although the ADWORDS advertiser paid 2.75 for that click TO GOOGLE, you will only get .01 because you have been supposedly smart priced, which is to say "SCAMMED". There are Google apologist even here on DP- see below.
I do see that as unfair when google gets $2.75 for a click, and you get .01 for it. I know they need to make money, but that's just bs.
I think if you don't like the way Google pays you you should try selling ads on your site yourself at a flat monthly fee.
I agree with you. Google isn't transparent to us. Google does steal money from here and there. But posting about it here will only get you an infraction and bad reps since most of the people here love Google too much since they rely on the revenue from AdSense. Lets call it loyalty. Good point though. Never thought of that. Check this out for my own "theory": http://www.webrampage.com/is-google-stealing-our-money/
There is no concrete evidence to accuse google of doing that... it's just a hearsay and speculations from adsense-frustrated people..
Adsense is an opportunity to only selected people in the world.. If you are not satisfied then leave adsence... After all, you agree with TOS so making complaints against them would not result any good...
I think you're an idiot. No ones forcing you to use google. If google gave $0.01 to publishers on EVERY CLICK IN EVERY NICHE EVERYTIME, I wouldn't care. Its their business. They can pay us whatever they want to. Stop complaining and stop making things up. You have ZERO idea how adwords/adsense work in unison, so don't even pretend like you have it all figured out.
Who knows if any of what you say is true. However, if it was, that is smart business on Google's part and that is why they make billions. There is always a choice not to use them and to find other ways to monetize your site. Nobody including Google can force you to use them, as suggested above. why not sell your own ad space?
My feeling on it is if you don't like it go somewhere else and don't give them your business. Sell it direct or use one of the many other advertising options. It's just like in any other business, if someone is not paying you well enough for your services then take your business to a competitor. Now if you were forced to put Google Adsense on your pages then that is another story but you are not so there is no real complaint here that can't be dealt with.
I don't buy the conspiracy theories but the fact remains that if Google was more transparent with their publishers then these conspiracies would go away.
I think that when an AdSense user gets smartpriced, then the advertiser pays less money to Google to compensate for the less money being paid to the AdSense user.
Google more transparent than they need to be in my opinion. If you had the market cornered like they do you would do the same thing. What is the alternative???
Welcome to the real word. A world where they will take everything you earn. All companies have a high end of profit over expenses. For example, myself. I make around $100 per every $1 of hosting and other expenses. I'm actually worse that google. I get a website built for $300, make the money back in 2 months, then by month 6 it's making over $1000. THere is nothing wrong with over profit. There may be a problem with you. If you are smart than you would try google for 6 months or so, then if you havn't reached your goal move on to something else. PS. In the 60's Coca~Cola used to advertise that hot women will like you if you drink it. They also had mentioned commonly that drinking it will increase your chances for a longer life and a more successful one. All companies are full of crap.
You know my opinion. I think Google is throwing the baby out with the bathwater. They have been smearing both Adsense publishers and Adwords advertisers with their stupidity so they can pad their bottom line for investors. Honestly, I know I've brought this up more than enough times but here goes again ... + Why the hell does Google just ban publishers without at least giving them some information on why they were banned ? + Why can't Google, the supposedly "greatest" search engine on planet earth AUDIT INVALID CLICKS so that publishers can at least click through to see what's advertised on their sites ??? Isn't that kind of against the FTC's "Truth in Advertising" policies??? I mean, webmasters can't see what's advertised on their sites ?? bullsh!t... + Smart Pricing definitely hurts publishers. It's geared to give the multi-million dollar advertisers the leg up. As the OP states, advertising is about "brand recognition". Every MLB baseball game I watch (and I have the MLB package) they advertise some company every inning behind the batter's box. Does that company get an eCPM or CTR's .. no .. bullsh!t again... + Does Google really return banned publishers earnings to advertisers ?? If you believe that, I have a bridge to sell you. What if one of those "invalid clicks" actually resulted in a sale?? Hypothetically speaking, I click on an ad that says "buy a Les Paul Custom for 30% off" and I click through my own ad and buy an $11K Les Paul - then Google bans me (true story btw) - WTF ??? Think again... You don't need to be a rocket scientist to see that Google, just like the oil companies is fleecing the ignorant masses.
