Hi, It is little late when I am asking DP Friendz, but i think it is the day to start....Actually, i do Website creation using html and CSS; i create this using Dreamweaver, but real to say that i don't know anything about HTML, CSS, or any other Server side scripts... So, my first question to all is; Where do i start... I am a hard worker and can do whatever it needs to become Expert of this field.. i want to be someone who can code anything, like a Pro... So, DP Friendz, please let me know a way to start from....and a timeline in which i can become atleast a Pro who can code complex projects... I want to thank you all for your efforts and also, thank you for reading the thread....thanks Sandeep
i think php is the best web-design language , same syntax as JAVA, JSP, C, VC... if you learn good php , you can easily to learn the other languages too if you need help in the begining , you can come to my website for free help: www.helpuall.com
I too think php is a good start after that if you want to be a Windows desktop or web application developer go for c# linux desktop developer learn c++ freelance web developer learn php, python and java
I hate questions like these. There is no "best" programming language and the right language for you depends on a number of factors such as how much time you want to spend learning, what you already know and what your goals as a programmer are.
Have basic knowledge of all the below in your knowledge-kitty: 1. XHTML & CSS 2. JavaScript & AJAX 3. PHP &MySQL Having baisc knowledge will let you have a good start. Then as need arises, learn more. Don't wait till you gain expertize in one language and then start the another. If you do so, you will face a LOT of hurdles. Freelancers are not often categorized as 'PHP-only'. Often they will need to do a website by themselves which will require basic knowledge of most common languages.
PHP is a gateway language. Relatively easy to learn, once you've got that it won't be hard to understand C++ and javascript. pscode.com has a lot of example code to learn easily. The best PHP editor is Coda, it's made by Panic
Well, I am primarialy an application developer and do very little web development anymore, but for the web I have to agree with the majority here and recommend PHP, but there is a ton of power and flexability in ASP.NET and the whole .Net framework, and you couldn't go wrong learning that. If you are aiming to move to the desktop I would look at C#, Python, C++ and Java as the best languages to learn (and learn them in the order listed).
A lot depends on what you'll be doing. Is for money or just fun. I personally love vb.net if you want to get into Windows programming. It's really easy to understand and it will do everything you need. For web site learn php, javascript, and css. All those three languages are required for good web programming.
I am going to chip in with the Perl vote as well. In my opinion Perl and PHP are near enough the same syntax / function wise so if you learn one you will slip easily into the other Ry
Youtube was written almost entirely in Python http://mail.python.org/pipermail/python-dev/2006-December/070323.html http://digg.com/programming/YouTube_is_almost_entirely_written_in_Python http://gigaom.com/2008/07/11/early-youtube-engineer-tells-all/
I would definately go with php. the way i learned was by evaluating and reading code. also try and find some php programmers to talk with online ..whenever you need help ask them...thats how i learned, by asking questions
