My sites are currently ranking "well" on google. What are some of the big differences in your opinions between the two search engines? For example I will be on page 1 for some keywords on google but page 3 or 4 on yahoo.

Different search engines have different algorithms; which means they use different calculations to derive relevant search results. It's common to rank well in one and not the other. Usually, your better off with Google in terms of traffic amounts, Yahoo! fairs much better with actual conversions\sales.

im in the same place as you are. on google I rank really well for a lot of terms. On yahoo....nothing. I think the main difference is this:
Google values quality links (links related to your niche)
Yahoo values Quantity links (in other words link spam your butt off)

Yahoo focuses more on raw links while google cares more about targeted links. Most people do their SEO for google since you'll get 7 to 10 times more traffic from google when you rank high. And if you rank high in google and have good content you'll eventually get enough natural links to rank high in yahoo.

Google seems to bring more traffic and I prefer to focus on that. I find backward links play a more important role in google while page optimisation is more important with yahoo.

Google is in everflux updating on an almost daily basis. You'll find that it can be easy to rank on google but hard to keep the ranking. Yahoo likes keywords in the domain name and meta tags.

Personally I find Yahoo a waste of time and I don't even know why people search on it, because it's full of duplicated rubbish. At least google tries to screen out as much as possible.

I don't belive YAHOO puts more emphsis on CONTENT, as i have a few top-noch content websites which rank high in GOOGLE and low on YAHOO and are very poor on in-bound links ...

Definitely a huge fan of Google. I use it exclusively for my own searching needs as I feel it's more comprehensive over Yahoo.
