Good Day, I have heard from reading some "SEO Expert" pages that the more webpages you have in your site the better, as long as the pages are unique and have relevent content. Is this true? And what is relevent content? I noticed that the top ranked page for my keywords has a "Photos" section that created about 300 pages (as far as Yahoo site explorer is concerned). Thanks ahead of time for your time.
In reading various SEO forums and blogs, the consensus seems to be that the search engines consider your site to have more value or importance if your site has a lot of pages. However, the SE also consider the content and overall SEO of the pages as well. Basically, creating a 20 page site where most of the pages lack content and SEO and have no inbound links will get you nowhere with Google.
A low number of high quality pages with relevant backlinks and unique highly targeted content will work well.
yes, the more relevant content you have the better. This content must be about your overall topic! If you try to write about everything you know than the SEs will get troubles to consider which theme your website belongs. And if you copy content then you will get a big ugly slap in your face by mother google.
It is also important to remember to build your site over time. It will take longer but it will last longer. Start with a 20 page site and add to it every week or two.
well, it doesn't really matter for me if i have ton's or just a few pages into my site. it's about the quality content in it.
every page can get you targeted traffic depending on what topic those pages are! I would recommend to rethink what you said. Think of a site with 100 pages and every one of them just get 10 visitors per day. this equals to 1000 visitors per day and 30000 per month!
Yes it is true lots of pages means better ranking. But content should be fresh. No duplicate content. Better ranking means good traffic. The pages should be the relevant to your website. If the website is SEO related then your website should contains only seo with web designing and webmaster related information not the information of share market or travel or hotel.
Ray, extra pages can help, but you have to ask yourself this question first - who will these pages benefit more, my users, or the search engines? (The correct answer should be "Both; my users first, the search engines second.")
So, theoretically, how about in the case of a Photos section (with photos that are relevent to your site)? If you make each photo its own page, with a unique title, and little bit of unique text describing the photo, would that be enough to help?
That depends. Are you going to provide detailed descriptions and summaries of what's going on in the pictures, or are they just going to be keyword-laden steaming piles of (well, you know)? If it's the former, then yeah, they'll help. If the latter is the case, then not so much.
Without a doubt, yes as long as its unique content. Relevant content, no. Think wikipedia is all focused on one topic?
