Wordpress Theme Designed for Adsense and Newcomers to Both

Have problems tweaking your Wordpress Theme to "take" Adsense? This guy has a great solution -- design your WP theme around your Adsense placement. His name is Javier Garcia and he calls the whole thing "Monetizing the Web", so even if you don't want to use Adsense codes, you can just plug in CPM banner codes where the Adsense normally goes.

Picture 1 shows where he's placed two prime locations -- one below the logo (a great spot) and one more underneath the first post.



And the third placement goes under the second post, as seen in this picture:



Not bad. One leaderboard on top, one 468 after the first post, and a second 468 after the second post. Or you could switch the 468s with 336 large rectangles and you have yourself a nice Wordpress based blog with Adsense on it. The single pages work much the same way, though the layout is slightly different.

The good thing about this theme is that it's relatively easy to insert your Adsense codes even if you've never been brave enough to "rework" your WP theme. Javier has the whole thing labeled and easy to understand, and I think even a novice should be to able to successfully add their codes without much problems. This would also effectively make the Adsense plugins moot, since you won't need them anymore.

It's not actually mine. It's Javier Garcia's theme.

 

I'm using it for my tips site and I agree that the template has very nice ads placements. I just need to add if-condition to make certain ad appear on certain page (e.g. leaderboard only on main page, etc).

I guess I'll try it out. WP is so cool and easy for switching out themes.

 

A very clean template indeed. The only thing I'd add is a horizontal link unit, which could be placed quite easily at the very top of the page, above the logo. Those horizontal link units can be surprisingly profitable. Or you could replace the leaderboard with a horizontal link unit in order to move the content higher above the fold.

 

I like my own modification of the K2 theme. It might still be a bit buggy and slow (lots of JS which I removed), but ad placement is fine in my opinion. Give it a check http://www.excitris.com

I like it too - I switched at least four of my blogs to the MW theme. You can choose different colour as well, although I like the basic blue.

 

For some reason, it looks so much better than most of the themes available for wordpress.
Also sticking right now with the basic blue.
Speaking of which, if anyone can look at my blogs and suggest another color, I would appreciate it.
