i think you just need to mention amount instead of 500%

because before chages you was earning 1$ and after changes it is 5$ then it does not matters.
it matter if your earning goes from 50$ to 250$

To the poster above you, if the CTR goes up by 500% then your ads are working with 500% more efficiency. The actual dollar values are not the issue. If I throw an extra million or two visitors at my site and I am still getting the 500% CTR then the numbers will really ad up!

I'm not going to reveal dollar values for my site as this is personal information and this thread was never about a numbers game anyway - it was about ad efficiency and the ability to escalate Click Through Rates by adjusting the positioning. Period!

A few things here that really need to get pointed out here.

Adsense will show the best performing ads in the allotted space you provide. So if you show 4 big ass banners, you'll probably see the 12-16 best performing ads. This is NOT good!

Ads 1-4 will pay 100% - 1000% more than ads 12-16 ... you will therefore make less money even with a higher CTR because people WILL click on the lower paying ads.

Woooooooooooo, you lost me here .... you will waste people's time by posting a thread that will actually make people less money???

If the metric you choose to focus on is CTR then your pocketbook will suffer. CTR sucks! eCPM is good but earnings rule. Here is an example.

1000 visitors - 50% CTR - $0.02 per click (possible with 16 ads showing on a page) = $10

1000 visitors - 10% CTR - $0.50 per click (possible with 4 ads showing on a page) = $50

Less ads == higher $ per click

Campaign #2 with a much smaller CTR and less ads on the page is making 500% more than campaign #1.

Which campaign would you rater be running?

Sounds like you were talking about profit then changed your tune in the middle of the thread and started tossing around CTR. This is not equal to profit.

i don't think this proffit will last too much. you should think about your visitors too. The click rate is now bigger because they only see ads when they come to your website. What do you choose? would you loose a returning visitor for a cheap .03$ click?

I guess your CTR has increased. what about eCPM ?. It happened to my site as well, but the increase in % is not constant . It went back to it's original level after few days.

I guess google somehow manipulating ePCM to control the earnings. If you see increase in CTR, then you will also see decrease in eCPM soon.
